CT26 or any CT as a wet vac

I am not sure anybody has done this. I know you have to get your HEPA filter out of there and insert these sponge like filters to use a CT26 as a wet vac at all and obviously get the filter bag out of there as well. But I am just wondering if anybody uses these things in their wet vac mode at all.

So other than the sponge filters, are there other accessories that Festool sells that end up being worth getting if going to use one as a wet vac? I have a non-antistatic hose I could use. However I also have a number of other vac and wet vac accessories I could use. Other than the sponge filters, you never even see any accessories used for wet vac work and the sponge filters are the only things even mentioned in the manual.

I am not sure I would ever do it. The reason I have wet vac accessories is because....well I have a wet vac. But I might want to use the CT26 that way. So any recommendations on other accessories besides the sponge filters and the hose that would be recommended for wet vac use?

I keep an old Rigid on hand for and wet occasions. I have the pump unit for it as well. I know the CT can do it... But if I need to get water up... It is usually a very dirty and disgusting project and almost always an emergency.

In my book... As Dexter Holland has said more than a few times...You got to keep em separated.

All you need to do to use the Festool vacs for wet use is to replace the standard filter for the sponge filter and take the dust bag out. There are no other special accessories for it because all the normal accessories work. It also makes no difference if you use the AS hose or the non-AS hose, they're both made out of plastic.

Sucking up water does make the tub dirty inside, so cleaning it afterwards is recommended before you put a bag in again. But there is no damage done in any way.

I don't use my Festool vacs often for water, but when it is needed it is a very handy feature to have. If I had to suck up water on a regular basis I probably would opt for a dedicated wet vac.

I wonder if that Compact Cleaning Kit, 497697 would be a decent idea for somebody that already had both 27 and 36mm anti static hoses and an antistatic to boot. Seems like that is enough hoses for one guy and one shop. Anybody using that Compact kit? Would seem an economical way to at least make sure one had one set of stuff that would definitely fit your Festool.

It even might be a nice solution in other ways. I bet those all plastic tubes fit together very tightly and unless one is a total gorilla or allows something massive to fall on them, they might scratch up over time and that is about it. In fact steel under the same circumstances will likely bend.

The floor attachment seems to have three different floor interfaces as well which would seem a nice idea. Probably that is where the weak link might be mechanically...those tabs that hold the different interfaces to the floor attachment itself look a little vulnerable to mistreatment. But in that case that small systainer is probably a real help because I would guess those tabs are most vulnerable with the tool is not in use.

[member=46154]jnug[/member] I have the kit. It's pretty expensive for what it is (a bunch plastic tubes), but I guess it comes w/ a systainer.

I think Bosch sells just the tubes for $30-40 some, but I never researched the option fully.

Hey somebody who has one....hot dog!!!!

So any idea how those three different floor attachment interfaces are supposed to be used from looking at them in the flesh? I can't figure one from the other unless maybe the one with the least depth is maybe for wet vac, the middle for dry floor and the one with the most depth for somewhat irregular surfaces. Does that seem right or am I (pardon the pun) all wet.

Well that seals it....I gotta get one of these I think...like most things Festool seems too well thought out to ignore. Costly as usual especially since Systainers are such an expense as part of a purchase. But you end up with everything you need in as compressed a package as you can get as long as you also have some sort of brush which I already have (that pointed tip brush).

I am used to plastic tubing as many Euro built vacs have been using plastic tubing for God only knows how long and I was an early adapter for Euro vacs brought to the US. Was hard to adapt at first because I had Panasonics for years (Japanese built). They were always built like tanks and were always more powerful than anything else I had. Still have one that has survived all these years and it is still today the most powerful vacuum I have.

As I mentioned above plastic tubes usually they fit together better because the maker does not have to mate metal to plastic and then turn that into a friction fit junction...Even now this is easier said than done as the tolerances are just zilch.

Plus in certain applications, as long as you are OK with the plastic getting a bit scratched up it can actually be more durable than metal and this happens to be one of them.....unless the plastic is too thin...then it goes back the other way and the thin wall metal is often more durable.

Thanks for all your help folks......

I also have the compact cleaning kit (plastic parts) and it is great. One of the first accessory systainers I ever bought.

I have never had any issues with the fit of them together. They are well worth the money I paid for them.

I also bout the 15m Bosch hose separately and love the power of that 35mm hose.

I never used my ct 26 as a wet vac, but I did get the bucket insert and the sponge filters for my ct22 (They don't make that for the newer vacs, but with the older models the top was hinged to the tub, so it made emptying hard without the accessory.)

But I have 2 more work vacs and I prefer to use the hitachi I have; because you don't need a lot of suction power for wet vacuuming, and it's less powerfull than my ct's (the same vallues as the old mini/midi) so I can keep the CT's dry for woodwork where more power is handy. I also need to empty it less often, because it has a higher tub.

I got the compact cleaning kit with my CT22 as a free extra from my dealer, It has hold up pretty well, I replaced the floor nozzle after it broke(after about 8 years or so), and I worn the brushes of the small round nozzle and replaced that too.

BTW, I use the insert with the brushes for hard floors and the "groovy" one for carpets. (so the other way round as atomic mike does)

Back then festool didn't include a picture on the lid with the what goes where, and it's a bit of a puzzle, so I printed one I found online and taped it to the lid.

I've used it a couple times as a wet vac. Works just fine. All you need is the blue filter and if you're like me you want to clean it out well before using it with bags again. I rarely use it that way because I rarely need a wet vac.
