CT26 which handle to use for going up and down stairs?

I was planning on purchasing a Mini for use around the house, but I found a CT26 at a price too low to pass.  For folks that own the CT26, did you purchase the optional handle for going up and down stairs or do you just use the built in handle on top of the unit?  I took it up 3 flights of stairs today, but I had to carry the systainers with my other hand.  If I had the optional handle, I'm wondering how easy it would be to load the systainers on top of the vacuum and use the vacuum like a dolley to go up and down stairs.

I don't have a handle for my CT but a post a looooooong time ago by Brice made me think twice about rolling things up stairs and potential damage.  I offer this in the same manner as Brice offed his.

I don't have the handle either,  but I would note that the hard plastic of the top is more fragile than you might think, and can crack from too much weight or inadvertent bumping with systainers stacked on top.  I already have one large crack in it, and there will probably come a time soon where I have to replace it.

I would not buy a CT26 if my uses included going up and down stairs with it - damn thing is just too bulky for that.

I've had the CT 22, CT26 and now the midi.  I love the midi.  Same power and it's a manageable size and small enough to take home from the jobsite to use at home for the evening.

The MIdi's bags have a great design in which they can very easily be emptied in about a minute or so.  I've used some bags over again 10 times maybe.  Shake them out real good and they work just about like new.  I've got a full box of new ones, but only use them if I'm working on something nasty or my reused one tears.

If your stairs are carpeted, the optional rear handle work to roll the vac up & down the steps. If you have wood steps, the steps will get scratched by the lower part of the handle when it slides over the edge of the step.

After taking my CT26 up and down the stairs a few times makes me wish I would have bought the mini. Since they're having the 15% off sale, I bought a mini which arrived yesterday.
