If the latch that holds the top down on the CT26 is broken so that it can't be engaged to secure the top does that prevent the machine from coming on altogether? Or is there something else wrong with it?

Thanks

Well, I don't know for sure but I'd guess whatever broke the latch broke something else too....

to clarify... it's a machine that is for sale...

the seller claims that it won't power on because there is some sort of safety feature that prevents it from powering on unless the latch is closed. Just wanna verify this before I take a chance on it....  Sorry for the confusion... it looks like the latch just broke off because someone puled on it too hard, not that it was hit by something or dropped or anything..

thanks

I bought a CT36E with a broken latch. Worked well with the broken latch. Does not look like a switch is wired to the latch to shut it off. Something else must be wrong. I'm assuming you are talking about the one on eBay.

Yeah that's the one... I think the place that's selling it just sells broken/2nds/factory rejects kinda stuff so it's probably been returned for not working... I thought it was a little weird for it to be connected to the power but knowing Festool it wasn't out of the question... thanks

He's a reseller of amazon returns from what I heard he buys them sight unseen by the trailer load

So the question is would this be covered under a warranty by Festool if the date code is still valid? I assume not, but maybe they could fix it....

I got that vac, unpacked it and plugged it in and it fired right up. Everything appears to be new still in original packaging. I priced a latch at $12. Turned out to be a decent gamble.
