Ct26 with two tools

Hello,  I currently have a TS55, MFT3 table, and a CT26 dust extractor.  I am considering a Kapex miter saw as an addition to the shop.

I am wondering if I can use both tools with the CT 26.  Are there any accessories that would allow me to have both tools ready to go with the dust extractor?  Are there accessories such as Y fittings, blast gates and a receptacle that allows two plugs to be inserted?  Needless to say, only one tool would be used at a time

My CT 26 has a  Dust Deputy on it .  Thanks for the help.  Ideas welcomed!

I use a Y with two gates attached, one for chop saw, one for misc hose use with my Dust Deputy... works great if you remember to close and open gates.  [embarassed]

Festool 496405 (or the version matching the kind of plug and electricity you have, should be listed under accessories of the CT 26 on your local festool site) can be added into the module slot of the CT and will give you a second outlet with auto-on. Or you use a simple multi-outlet power strip (not recommended by festool though).
http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tool-problems/kapex-vs-midi/ has some more about using multiple hoses (just with a midi).

You are gonna want a short 36mm hose for the Kapex as it needs all the air flow it can get to keep the work area cleaner.

The Y-thing; yes, Festool #452898

The extra outlet; yes, see above; mentioned there.

The problem is then that you have a huge bleed in the vacuum circuit, since there are no valves of any kind included with that setup.

I have swapped multiple Festools around one vac, but mainly by plugging and unplugging the Plug-it and hose each time. For permanent attachment, a 2nd vac is easier.

In case you look at the thread I linked you'll notice that I suggested to use 497926 gates behind the Y.

But then you've spend 120-150 bucks and still have to manually open / close two valves. Might just as well manually switch hoses then.

150 for just a fancy Y setup  [blink]; you might think about a 2nd vac then that includes the extra outlet, extra hose, etc.

I did, would have put me back factor 4+ and it would reduce the limited space available in my shop. Also I was able to source the gates and hose used and relatively inexpensive, since they're passive parts I don't worry about them breaking out of warranty. It is also easier to carry around when going onsite (at least compared to two vacs).

In the end it's just a suggestion about how it could be done and the statement that it works for me.
Not how you have to do it. YMMV.

Both the Kapex & TS55 needs a lot of volume and more than anything velocity (air speed) to keep air clean and I find even running a CT 36 on my Kapex is still not as clean as id like though a heap better than not having the vac connected. I think as noted above the the Y piece is not your solution here for these larger units. If say sanders and jig saws etc it would be fine but not a TS & Kapex together

The Kapex has an issue with picking up all the dust made - the CT 26 picks up most, but it is only about 70% effective.  The shorter and larger the hose diameter, the better collection.  The vacuum cleaner is just not generating enough volume of air to encourage the dust and chips generated to go into the hose.  The TS 55 is ok, but if you are close to the edge when you cut, the collection is reduced - once again, not enough air flow.  The Dust Deputy as a separator reduces the efficiency further - I think by 5% - which is not much, but every little bit helps.  My shop vacuum generates more air flow than the CT26 - by a factor of 2.  Only problem, it does not keep what it catches very efficiently, so I prefer using the Festool, and cleaning up the missed dust.  If you have a large dust collection system with cyclone and storage outside, then I would go with that.  For site work, the Festool works fine, but for static workshops, there are cheaper and more efficient dust collection systems available.

I have a CT Sys, CT 17 & CT36 HD c/w DD on top. The DD makes a huge difference in my view especially over long use you never notice a performance drop as the bag fills. I haven't played around with different hoses though expect its more to do with the collection point on the Kapex than anything else because it just opens out to a large area so drop in velocity and turbulence.
Try playing with a slightly smaller hose and taping cardboard in the inlet track to see if it makes any difference.
