CT36 AC no ramp up?

Hi, I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this question.

I own 2 CT36 AC extractors. One I purchased new and has had minimal use. It will actually compress the planex hose, as in shorten the hose there is so much static suction. I can hear the vacuum almost ramp up under load (by plugging the hose)

Now the second unit, I got used with a used planex. I admit I should have been more careful when inspecting it. I noticed a vibration and noise when I got it home. It was quite loud compared to my newer unit. It was sent to Ontario as it was still under warranty. It came back today, the note said clogged with dust. Cleaned inside, tests ok.

Yes it is quiet now and the vibration is gone.

However, it does not have the same suction force as my "new" unit. Almost like there is a leak. It also does not ramp up under load. By ramp up I mean the motor does not seem to load up and react to the load like the original.

Does anyone have an older ct36ac? Was there an improvement made with speed control? Perhaps the turbine is worn out?

Any thoughts ? Suggestions?
I am in Saskatchewan, it was 16 day turn around to Ontario and the box I sent it in was not returned.

Your problem is possibly being caused by a clogged filter.

The CT 36 AC needs to be cleaned manually on a regular basis along with utilizing the AC feature.

There are several things that need to be verified.
1. When you're sanding drywall with the AC feature on, the clear plastic liner needs to be used or no bag at all. The self-cleaning bag can only be used when the AC feature is off.
2. Make sure that the high performance filter has been replaced.  If the unit was clogged, the filter was clogged as well and will decrease the suction force.

If neither of these are the case, you should contact the Canadian service center and possibly have it sent in again. Please let me know what you find out and if your problem continues.

Thank you for the reply TylerC

1. I have only ever used the plastic liners
2. I will swap the two filters and do another A-B comparison tonight and report back. The filter on the lower suction vac "looks" clean but looks can be deceiving.

Am I correct in thinking the vacuum turbine spins faster under load? Like if I plug the hose with my hand it seems to speed up to try and overcome loss of suction ?

Thanks!

Okay. So the older ct36 (vac B I'll call it) was used today with the planex. Even after manually cycling the auto clean with my hand there is a huge loss of suction. It's like the auto clean is not effective at popping the filter clean.

I brought it back to my shop and vacuumed out the b vac tub with the a vac.

I removed the filter from B vac. My A vac, half full of drywall dust  with filter has more suction than B vac with no filter. I cleaned up B vac very well before I did this.

Is a seal gone inside? The motor sounds good. Do they just wear out?

Try checking for leaks such as a hole in the hose, cracked container, or the seal between the hood and container. If you can't find any, give our service department a call, and they'll help you out. 1-888-337-8600

Alright! Pretty sure I got it figured out. In case someone is searching... I took the motor cover off. There are is a gasket on the back of the motor cover housing. It appears that when the cover was put back on it was not tightened down evenly. The gasket was almost flipped sideways from not being torqued down evenly. I straightened it out and put the cover on and carefully tightened. Like how you tighten a head to a motor.  The suction performance retuned!

Ps there are many surfaces that have either rubber or rubber foam. Check carefully.
