CT36 Issue

Hi guys,

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the issue I'm having with my CT 36.  While it is under load with a tool attached, for instance my RO 90, the motor sounds like it is throttling up and down a few hundred rpm's every couple seconds.  I've been able to replicate this condition by holding the hose unhooked from the tool and covering the end creating a load on the vac.  It does not do this with it just running under no load.  I have not noticed any drop in suction or performance.  I'm wondering if this is normal or maybe something gone wrong with the circuitry or the motor?

Hi its not full is it? sorry if you have checked that [doh] my sounds odd when its rammed

Jeff,

I think the condition you're experiencing is the normal operation of a bypass motor/dual stage motor.  A regular vacuum can be damaged by continuously blocking off the inlet and causing the motor to ramp up and overheat.  A bypass motor prevents that and I believe that is what you hear occurring.

Oh boy, not this debate again.  This is a fairly common misconception.  Truth is you are removing most of the load on the motor by blocking the inlet.  It's very unlikely you'd burn up the motor with no load on it.

To the OP's question, there could be a blockage in the hose, if not then I think there could be something wrong with your CT.

Hi Jeff,

I suggest you give Festool service a call  800-554-8741
