CT36 keeps turning off in Manual

My Vac turns on when manual is selected, but then turns off straight away. I sent it to Festool for repair, but it came back with “no fault found”. It worked for a couple of weeks, but is now doing the same thing again. Any recommendations ? Is there a troubleshooting guide or a known issue ?

is it possible that there is an obstruction in the hose that is causing a clog to build up? That would account for the couple of weeks of normal operation than the shut downs.

My wife used one of my Festool vacs to clean her car. She sucked up a water bottle cap. The vac shut down as it was designed to do. She asked for my help only after trying to restart the vac several times. The shutoff feature saved the vac.

I use a length of 3/8" steel rod to clear out my hoses if I get something stuck in one. Works great.

I wish the issue was that easy. I have separated the top of the CT36 from from the bottom, removed the filter, removed the hose and there is still no change to the issue of it turning off. When the whole unit is assembled together, the second or so the motor winds up, there is still suction.

I just posted yesterday about my conturo problem.  I would document the problem with a video.  I sent my conturo in and they tried telling me same thing "no issue found".  ??? ??? I sent them the video that showed the problem and they sent me a new unit.  Without the video they probably would have sent me back my same broken conturo.  It was very strange but mine wasnt a intermittent problem.  It would not stop going into error mode for 3-4 days straight I tried unplugging and re-plugging 20+ times each time it was the same thing always error 7.  So Im not sure how it worked when it arrived at Festool. Either way, they took care of it but without the video who knows.

I have had the same problem with my CT26 over the past couple years, but the problem finally reached a point recently where the unit shuts off almost immediately after turning on. I swapped the main electronic board with the one in my CT36 based on another FOG post, and it fixed the problem. Based on this, I went ahead and ordered a new circuit board from Festool (SKU #202317, ~$116 +shipping), which I have been waiting on for over a month. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info re the circuit board replacement, that may fix the problem. The actual switch does not appear to be the problem, but I am suffering the same fault as you, where the machine will switch on and then immediately turn off before spooling up to full speed. Hopefully Festool here in Australia can supply a part in a timely manner !

Might be a good idea to start by checking voltage coming from the wall. Does it do the same thing plugged into different outlets, and different locations as in different houses or job sites?

Another option instead of buying a new board is to buy a Bluetooth module and just leave it in auto mode. I can't remember the last time I used manual mode.

Just a quick follow up to my earlier post, since I received my new circuit board a couple days ago. I installed the new circuit board and now my CT26 is back to operating like new. No more random shutdowns in manual, auto, or Bluetooth modes.

Me either, it is always tool-triggered or bluetooth remote.
