CT36AC noise

Hey guys. Sent my CT36AC into festool to get a strange noised fixed. Whats happening is when the vac is on there's a high pitched vibration that is random. Its making the vacuum awful to use as its so loud. I guess festool couldnt find what was causing it and sent it back with a turbine cover replaced and the outlet replaced but still makes the awful noise.

Any ideas what could be causing this.

The impeller is hitting something. I bet a motor bearing has gone and the shaft is not running true.

Mine has developed a high pitch whine. Not sure if I'll send it back or check it and have them send me the parts, it's still under warranty.

I honestly think its a vibration from something resonating. If I change the speed the noise I'll go away then come back. It sounds different on YouTube than in person. Also if I hold my hand on different areas of the vac the noise stops but it's not the part I'm touching that's making the noise. I'm gonna tear it down tomorrow and see if I can figure it out then get the parts sent too. Was awkward being with out it the last week.

Any imbalance or wobble will cause the issue. The shake has to be coming from the motor/impeller, they're the only items spinning.

Seriously? They send it back like that? Everybody who hears that knows something's wrong. Contact Festool again and tell 'em to fix it. Again. And right this time.

Sorry for the inconvenience and the continuing problem. Is it easy to replicate the problem, so that the service guys can troubleshoot? Or, is it one of those things that just happens completely randomly? Either way, sorry that it wasn't properly resolved. I've already emailed our service manager, who should be in touch with you.

The only thing I think could have happened was they didn't put it onto a canister. When I called they said just put the main unit in the post as it was about $60 shipping otherwise. I have not tested it off the canister but today I'm gonna do some investigation and will get back to you. I will try it on the canister and on my 26 canister too.

I really think its more of a plastic resonance than a mechanical issue. But I could be wrong. The worst part about sending it in was finding a box but I got the one they sent it back to me in here so not a massive deal to send it back if I have too.

Ok i think i have fixed the issue. I took what i could apart without going silly. I was sure it was just an issue with something loose.. I tightened down all the screws i could find and it seems to have stopped. Im not sure whats causing them to come loose but they were able to be tightened down quite a bit more than i expected. Whats funny is i now have the same noise coming from the brand new outlet they installed but this is an easy fix with a couple of cabinet door pads. Perhaps an out of balance motor can cause the screws to loosen but i will give it a few months and see what happens.
