With the announcement of the new CT48 coming out, I was curious is anyone knows the distance between the base and the arc of the Boom Arm -- i.e. how many Systainers can it hold?

Scott,

There is a 5" (126mm) gap between the inside of the boom arm support post and the Systainers. Measured from the floor that point on the boom arm itself is 63.5" (1612mm).

Honestly, that is a lot higher than I personally stack Systainers.  Actually, my Festool Boom Arm is set away from the CT22 because that works best with the work table where it is used. Since the boom goes that way I do use the outriggers and I keep a couple of Systainers loaded with full 5 pound boxes of extra screws on the CT22 as counter weight.

Although the CT48 is somewhat higher than the CT22, you will still have room for an impressive collection of Systainers under the Boom Arm.
