I know the bag must be replaced periodically but, does the vacuum automatically shut off when full or is that something I should check periodically?

Second, is the HEPA filter reusable and cleanable? Or must that be replaced each time it gets clogged? Also, is that something that should be checked regularly also?

Any other cleaning or filter maintenance required?

I can't seem to find these answers in the CT Manuals online (and there isn't one for the CT48 specifically).

The bag should be tossed once its full and replaced with a new bag. It acts as the primary filter. No auto-shutoff when full, you will need to check or just notice when suction is lost. With the capacity of the CT 48, that a lot of dust, so you shouldn't have to check often.

The HEPA filter can be cleaned by removing it and agitating the plies on the filter with your hand or by tapping the filter on a surface. We don't recommend compressed air because it would be easy to compromise the integrity of the filter with too much air pressure.

If you're using a bag, which we highly recommend, then you should not need to clean or replace the HEPA filter for a very long time. Like I said, the filter bag acts as a primary filter capturing particles down to 1 micron in size.

No other maintenance that I can think of.

There are some general guidelines for filter replacement that were written for RRP, but apply to general use for the most part on our CT website: http://www.eparrphepavacuum.com/hepa-vacuums/EPA-RRP-Certified-HEPA-Vacuum/epa-rrp-faq.aspx

The guidelines don't say anything about vacuuming the HEPA filter if there is dust remaining after shaking it. Can it be vacuumed? I doubt any of this is needed at this point, but needed to know for the future. I would guess a purchase of 5 replacement bags will last me a long time

I don't see why you couldn't vacuum the filter with another vac. I wouldn't recommend vacuuming the filter with the CT 48 without the filter installed.

Yeah that would certainly defeat the purpose, but I also have a Fein with a HEPA filter.
