CT48 side slots?

OK, so here's one I don't know or maybe did know and forgot.

I recently added a CT48 to my shop.  What are the four vertical slots right above the upper portion latches? I so not see them on the CT26 or CT36.

I have had my CT48 for many years. I wondered what the slots are for also.
