CTC SYS Runtime Realities

I am one of many around FOG that have hoped for the return of the corded CT SYS. Should it come back, I would purchase it day one. Alas, I don’t think that will happen. I have also had multiple occasions lately that dragging my CT Midi around has been a pain. To move the Midi I must take it out from under my Kapex UG chart, swap the short 36mm hose, load it in the truck, and then unload it on the other side. All this has me wondering if I should give the CTC SYS a chance. Before taking the plunge, I would like to know what type of batteries everyone uses and runtime when connected to tools and for cleanup. Last trip, I made about six cuts with TS75, six plunges with a Domino XL, and six plunges with a Lamello. Then I did maybe five minutes of clean up. May I assume the CTC could have handled all this without needing to charge a battery?

Thanks Fellow Fogers!

I have the one you want so I can’t say anything about battery endurance.

“six cuts with TS75” this though is too undefined. You could stuff a bag with just that work, or less than half the bag…
So you always need to have a couple extra bags on hand, unless your using the cordless version 😉

Far enough, on my info being too undefined. The TS cuts totaled about 4500mm or about 175 inches. The Dominos were 8 X 100. Clamex were the 14mm versions.

Also, never thought about bag capacity. Just assumed battery would die first. If I need to carry extra battery and a charger, there is little to no benefit for me.

I'm sincerely hoping that these new TB X 4 batteries are the bees knees. 🙏 I also wish Festool would bring back the CT SYS from the dead but realize that may not be reality. Here's the recent battery usage chart and it's pretty interesting.

Very interesting chart, I was hoping with the new batteries coming out there may have been something higher than 8ah released, but I'm keen to get some of the new 8's anyway when they're out.

Thanks for this post.

For those looking at the tables:
Do NOT be dissuaded from using the 5-cell 3.0 packs with tools where those are listed as "not recommended". It just means the tools are unable to reach their full power with those packs.

In practice, most use cases of a TPC, jigsaw or the VECTURO etc. you do not require the full power of the tools. But your body can absolutely appreciate the better weight balance a lightweight pack brings.

My DRC 18/4 is 'stuck' with 3.1 packs 99%+ of the time as there is simply no point hogging it up with a 5.2 pack if I am not doing heavy-duty work. Same was the case for my CARVEX and even my AGC 18 sees a light pack once in a while for fine work with a sanding pad.

I hope the new batteries are better and if I get a CTC SYS these batteries will work.

Any comments on my use case and the CTC SYS in current config being up to the job?
