I've had a CTL 26 E dust extractor for over a year now, when I first purchased the machine the suction on it was great, it seems too have decreased significantly. When I clean the filter and empty the bag (it's a lifelong bag with the plastic sheath) I also shake the bag outside. The suction improves a lot but after a few minutes of hoovering the suction is really poor again.

Help  me

Thanks Ryan

Ryan,

When you write about the long life bag, you are talking about the bag that is usually considered to be pricey and can be emptied hundreds of time?  If so, are you using it for catching chips or sanding dust?  When you blow out your filters are they dirty?

Hi guys, thanks for the replys I am using it to Hoover general debris and dust on a building site or in clients houses, I use it with a kapex mitre saw, plunge saw, and two sanders one of which is a ro 150 and the other one is a detail sander. Both the sanders create fine dust. The bag is a cloth type with a plastic sheath you pull on and off to empty it.

Many thanks.

Ryan

Maybe you should try the regular bag to cancel out, or, to identify if the problem is your "Life time bag".

Hi Mark,  welcome to the forum!

I will second Mark's suggestion if you have a regular bag for it.  I know that I will probably cause others to post contrary to this but in looking at the Festool Catalog it recommends that it be used for "capturing and eliminating large chips produced by routing or planing".

If it were my bag, I would first take it outside, turn it inside out and blow it with a leaf blower ( high volume - low pressure) by placing the nozzle end in the now reversed bag..  If that didn't work I would then again turn it inside out and wash it in the washing machine on a delicate or gentle cycle.  Yes, I have been told it is ok to wash.  I would then allow it to air dry.

You may choose a different path  [big grin] than I, but just a couple of thoughts.

Funny enough I turned it in side out today. And hoovered it out with another vacuum it is definitely a lot better but not 100% I will try washing it I think that will clear out the perforations nicely.

Thanks

Just another note to add... the long life bag is rated for about 500 refills. After that, it will need to be replaced.\

Same with filters, they do need replacing periodically. The frequency depends on use.
