Hi, specifiaction says:

Festool - CTL22 ?363 (about ?320 spring discount)
Airflow max: 3800 l/min 22 Litre capacity

Festool - CTL Midi ?263
Airflow max. 2800 l/min 15 Litre Capacity

Pack of 5 bags for the CTL22 ?26.79 0.24p PER LITER
Pack of 5 bags for the CTLMIDI ?15.51 0.20p PER LITER

in realife use there is a noticiable diference in suction between the CTL22 and the CTLMidi?

What about the noise?
Thanks

The noise is not an issue. The CT is quiet as far as vacs go. If you want less noise just turn down the suction which you need to do anyway for applications such as sanding.

I think for me the deciding factor is portability vs hepa. Weigh your needs and make a decision based on them not the difference in price, you will not regret it later. I went with the CT22 for it's hepa filters and it is still small enough for easy transportation. For shop only I would go for the CT33.

Andy, I agree with Ken as far as transporting the vac goes. I have a CT Mini and a CT 22, the mini goes to every job and the 22 stays at home most of the time. The nice thing about the 22 is that it's small enough to be transported to a job site without must hassle. The 22 is the best of both worlds, nice capasity and still easy to move.

Hi there.

I have the Midi and it's a very good machine - similar in a lot of ways to the Mini but more capacity, and there's a lot to like about it. It was launched just when I was in the market for a decent vac, and to me it seemed like a no-brainer vs the Mini; half as much capacity again for an extra ?30 and only 0.2kg heavier - and at the time it was just inconceivable that I could spend ?400-odd on a CT 22.

Now though, I find myself needing something in the workshop at the same time as the Midi's at a job site, so I'm looking at another vac; do I get another Midi (only one size bag to keep track of) or stump up for the CT22 - more capacity and the option of HEPA filters and the boom arm...

So, in retrospect, whilst I don't regret buying the Midi at all, Brice's Mini and CT22 combo seems to be a pretty good choice, all-round - though obviously the type of work you do will also influence your decision; if you're more mobile, then get the Midi now maybe, and work your way up, or if you're more workshop-based, then diving straight into the CT22 may make more sense...?

Whichever Festool vac you decide on, I'm sure you won't regret it.

Hope this helps, Pete.

I have the CTL Mini, at work I use the CT 22. The Midi has the same motor as the Mini but has larger capacity.

I think the Mini is so-so, it works well for small stuff but lacks the power of the CT22 when it comes to serious cleaning up. We have an old Volta - which is dwarfed by the Mini and which cost me 99$ new - that does a better job (!) than the Mini at everything except bag capacity. In that perspective the Mini is overpriced and underwhelming. However it is the smallest Festool Vac available and this is why I chose it. I am not impressed by it in anyway though, I find it struggling at tasks that better household models do with ease.

The CT 22, now that's a machine, we run it hard at times but it just keeps sucking away like there's no tomorrow.

I can't recommend the Mini (nor the Midi, which a colleague has but he regrets not getting the Mini, he is by the way also not impressed by the Midi) for anything but the lightest work.

I bought the Mini and I agree with Henrik that its power is a little underwhelming ---- it suits my needs for sanding and light clean up but if you need to do any serious vacuuming of copious debris, well you might want to step up a few rungs on the vacuum ladder.  But it is nice to carry around and does fit my need for a portable vacuum for my Festool sanders.  The only other tool I have hooked up to it is a Bosch planer, and though it handles its job well, the little Mini just fills up too quickly.

I agree with the above two posters.  I have a Midi. Kind of underwhelming.  My 8 year old Fein II is a much better vac.  HEPA (mandatory), larger capacity, a bit quieter, more suction, larger diameter hose, less money.  The Midi is cute, though...

:D This is one of the Mini's enduring qualities also ----- kind of like R2D2 or that Wall-E bot and his little side kick.  He does alright by me but wouldn't be my first choice when the vacuuming gets serious.

Hi,

The comments on being underwlemed by the Mini/Midi are surprising to me. I just bought a Mini and am quite impressed so far.  I have a CT33. And purchased the Mini for transport to job sites, and as just an all around handy vac. I have used it on the sanders and Domino, and to clean up. I found the suction to be plenty on those tasks. I will try it with the router (with D36 hose), and the TS55 when I get the chance.  I believe Brice has been using it with the Kapex, so it would seem that it has enough suction and air flow if using the D36 hose.    I went with the Mini over the Midi for the ultimate in portability. It is 2" shorter, not much, but enough that I can carry it comfortably with up to a Systainer III on top and not have to lift  much while carrying. The extra two inches makes a difference  if carrying it with a Systainer on top.

My thoughts on the CT choice other than HEPA.  Are-    If it will be in the shop most of the time get the CT33 (44, 55 also depending on location).    If it will be in the shop and/or getting a lot of job site use get the CT22. If it will be mostly job site and capacity is not critical then go with Mini or Midi based on capacity vs. height.

thanks guys for all the coments I thik I will buy a CL22 , now the  probem is where to hide such a monster so the wife can't see it  ;)

Seth: the Mini does come in handy - I totally agree on that. For small tasks it does work very well - which is why I have kept it. It almost got to be the first and only Festool item that I sold because I found it not delivering according to the price tag. I would not use it with a Kapex as it would fill up fairly quickly and there is no reusable long life bag available.

Andy: well, I bought the Mini and told my fianc?e how small it was and she was delighted. Until I got it home - it is still twice the size of our small Volta (which by the way kicks its ass when it comes to cleaning up...) and she just rolled her eyes on me.

Now everytime she needs to use it she says: "can I use... ...YOUR...  ...SMALL...  ...vac?" with a smirk on her face. Haha.  ;)
