CTL26 + Dust Deputy = great combo

Hi.
Some time ago I put my CTL26 in the attic and drew the air through quite long hoses via a Dust Deputy. I didn't know how it was going to work, but I'm glad to report success.

Don't hesitate if you're thinking about this. I don't have a vacuum meter that can cope with this kind of negative air preasure. But I did a simple non scientific test but lifting a pivoting board with the nozzle of the hose. I gradually moved the suction point away from the pivoting point, i.e. increased the needed lifting force. I couldn't see any difference between direct connection to the CTL vs connecting through longer hoses and Dust Deputy.

The DD performs really well. I made an air tight box and put it on the wall. By making the box triangular it doesn't take much of my precious shop space.

The amount of dust in the CTL is very little. This was a test without a bag, but I will use a bag from now on so the filter won't clogg.

I like it.
I built a contraption a couple years ago that hold my Dust Deputy on top of my CT 22.  I've been very happy with it.

Why the attic? Space?
Great idea, but it seems hard to empty the vac.
Maybe that's the point, you don't have to empty it very often.
I like the idea

If I get this right the bag just sits there inside the box on the frame. Does the dust go around the bag and all over the box? If you press the bag tightly around DD opening it might get sucked in.

Yep, I'm one of those with a really small shop (or too much tools).. With my http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-jigs-tool-enhancements/boom-arm-deluxe/ and the vac in the attic I have boom arm reach over my whole shop and it's very quiet. I've connected a switch to the remote control pins on the CTL so I can start it manually without putting load on it with a tool. The image of the CTL with a little dust inside shows all the dust that where in the vac at the same time the image of the almost full bag was taken. Hence I won't have to empty the vac very often.

Does the dust go around the bag and all over the box?
Yes, it's a mess in the box  [embarassed]. But this is easily addressed with the help of my CTL Midi at bag change time. There is a 2 inch gap between the ceiling of the box and the top of the bag so sucking in the bag in the DD won't happen. I've thought about building a dust trap with overlapping brush bars or such. As for now its ok to clean out the mess since it takes a while to fill up the bag.

I would like more information about the remote control device you are using to turn your CT vac on with, please.

The only thing you need is to connect two of the pins under the screwed lid on the CT26. I don't remember which pins, but I can take a look if you want. I'd prefer to PM you though, since this is booth violating warranty AND hazardous if you don't know what you are doing. Not the kind of tips that should sit in Festools forum  :-X
