Curse you Festool! (and FOG)

yep that is what happens,  I have over $23,000 invested  into festool but it is an investment into my business and it has paid off very well.  saves me time, makes it easier to make built-ins and other projects.. so I have had a great return on my investment,  that  is the way I look at it.

oh did I mention my video series on using festools..... you tube...  builtinsbykreg   this has caused hundreds of others to buy festools and make the investment... it never ends ! and it all started with my first purchase... the aft55 saw !

Yup, my Wife really hates the word Festool and Fog because she knows it will cost us a lot of money.  It truly is an addiction the more I buy the more I think I need.

I'm sure this is not a new story.  

You can say that again and it's told by a new convert on here almost on a daily basis. I don't know if all converts become addicts but I guess that most do. I convinced myself I had been cured and then had an accessory binge the other day. It was the first spare cash I have had in months and  I could have got away for the weekend to somewhere nice or spent it on a whole host of other things. But no I had to have the parallel guides and a few other bits. I told the guys on site to watch out for a delivery as I was cutting out the back on the patio the day the stuff was due. Every 15 mins they told me a delivery van was outside and then laughed when they saw my crestfallen face as there was nothing there. What a terrible way to abuse an addict!

I do not see it as an addiction because, in my experience, most addictions degrade/hamper/destroy the individual. I think it is closer to 'seeing the light' and, just as most people benefit from their religious beliefs, we all have put our trust in Festool and now benefit from the relationship.

Here on the FOG, we have come together in a common belief that Festool is the one and only tool company. I know that there are some doubters, and we have seen their work recently on the FOG, but we must all be strong and resist the path of destruction. We have amongst us evangelists, like Paul Marcel, who through their dedication, strong belief and persuasive skills have managed to encourage many of us to follow the Festool path. Discovering Festool is a joyous thing, something wonderful and certainly life changing. In many religious orders the devotees have been made to give up all of their worldly goods or money - I have done the same - Festool now has it all but I have been blessed with some lovely tools in exchange. I know from my own experience that after my baptism with Festool green I can hold my head up high in the world of woodwork and never be afraid of any task no matter how challenging.

Even after admitting that I was hooked I still sneered in my best superior manner at all those folks making such a big ta-do-da about those silly, overpriced plastic boxes. [cool] [cool]

So last week I found myself in the shop rummaging around for a router bit in the 3 tupperware bins of bits in various protective sleeves and I thought "waaaiiit a minute, I have a smart-phone in my pocket and the Amazon app and I get free shipping and wasn't that really cool router bit storage container only $75 anyway...". [eek]

The rest, as they say, in history. [embarassed] Technology (and specifically Amazon's One-Click Buying) is the great enabler.

I was the same but it was actually the sortainers that made the real difference in the efficiency of my on site setup. It's like so much Festool stuff, it's not what it is that you should use to judge it's worth it's all about what it does.

FASTER, EASIER, SMARTER, SKINT AND NO MORE HOLIDAYS COS I KEEP SPENDING MY MONEY ON GREEN THINGS.

I'm going back to Dewalt, I had a life then and got to see the rest of the world sometimes.
