This is a humidor I'm building for a fellow BOTL in Illinois. (Brother of the leaf) All sides are curved as well as the doors to come. i thought I'd share my progress. Enjoy.
I'll be using 1/4 sawn Bubinga for the rails and styles that you see here and Waterfall Bubinga for the panels. There will be some Ebony accents as well.
I did it with laminations in a vacuum bag. here are some pics.
I cut the 8/4 Bubinga with the TS-75 to a width that would fit in the bandsaw. Then I cut it to 3/16th" laminations and drum sandes them to 1/8th". Next they were glued up and put in the vacuum bag over the jig I had made.
Thank you. I used the drum sander for 2 reasons. 1-my planer is 220v and is not wired yet. ;D 2- I only needed to take off 1/16th of an inch plus the sanded surface makes for good adhesion of the glue.
I thought I'd add a picture of the jig before the bender board was put over the structure. If you have ever tried bending in a vacuum, you know it's a powerful thing. A vacuum bag can crush a form if you don't build it strong. Here's the form from the inside.
