welcome to the fog.
the one thing i always disliked about the cms system was that you had to take the insert out to use one of the other tools.
i would buy the system if there was a way around this.

Alan, thanks for your welcome, I finally agree with you, I got these original CMS part as second offer for less then 100 euro, I just add the 2 new side tube from MFT 3 I bought separately, to have the possibility to used my TS55 for ripping small cut as a saw table.
this is the the only way I had for my low budget :-) table saw.

I plan to build MDF router plate for my OF 1010 to used it as table router with this table in comming weekend.

poor man CMS GE version [smile]

I found the picture for THIS – Homemade CMS table saw while browsing Pinterest.
which re-routed me back here. Very nicely done; simple and sturdy.

If you're still around I'd like to see a picture of the table with the insert removed,

Thanks

how come I can't see the picture in this thread?

Currently there is an issue with some older images not being visible after a recent server issue.  Festool is aware of the issue and the Moderators have been informed that they are working towards finding a fix.

Okey. Looking forward to a fix. Very interested in seeing this as I'm making a Paulk table and the CMS inserts would be great if easily adaptable.

Well my CMS insert arrived and it all looks very doo-able.

I spent a couple of hours with WW measuring up one of his many cms units and debating the best way to anchor it.

'Sfar as we can see, whereas the cms slips in at one side and then cams in at the other, locking it hard to the RH side of the aperture, a more practical DIY approach might be a simple piston fit down into the table with the plate supported on a built-up shelf around the aperture periphery. If the fit isn't sloppy, there's no room for the insert to tilt so it can't throw itself out of the table if something kicks back

If that doesn't work, and I'm sure it will, the contingency plan is to run a slot cutter round the inside of the hole, R+L  and then to mount in a bull-nosed insert in hardwood or aluminium to mimic the CMS's extrusions. The plate can then lock onto these in the standard CMS way with the table top cam screws.

It'll be quite a while before I get round to all this, so don't hold your breath. Keep watching this space, though. I've some part-finished drawings of the overall method that may be of interest to one or two of you. Coming soon.

Problem with photos looks like it is permanent. Can we get your pictures re upload as your facebook  gives us a not found.  I would love to see what you did.

Thanks;
