It depends.
I'm going to be rather blasphemous here, by stating that the 3 year warranty is a rather moot point, unless you're a professional ( or a VERY heavy hobbyist user ) .
In my experience, problems tend to show up in the first couple of months of using a powertool, or not at all during the warranty period.
Mind you: daily usage is a different story, for in heavy use it IS possible to wear out some parts that are meant to last the lifetime of the tool.
Tools used to do solid surface, plaster and the likes being likely candidates.
Other than that: hardly ever happens. Mind you: I'm talking about professional quality tool brands, ( like Festool, Hilti, Flex, Leica, etc. ).
Still: You should recieve the warranty coverage you're entitled to. Ask your dealer - he'll know.
Regards,
Job
One of the factors that directed my decision to buy Festool was that while working for a Schreinerei in Germany all tools were provided to use, the hand power tools were either Festool or Fein and the handtools were in systainers. ( I got some comments when I used my own tools, both hand and Elu power tools in the workshop because I was more comfortable in using them [blink])
The fact that these companies do not make an inferior range in an alternate color and that the boss I worked for would only provide tools that would last, be efficient and earn him money made a lasting impression on me. ( He would go ballistic if all cuts on a panel saw were not done and it had to be started up again to do them, that being said, he had just installed a saw that we had to input the width required the thickness and if required the scoring blade depth of cut angle etc and it would set fences and blades to suit automatically [cool])
So I would not expect a Festool to wear out within the warrantee period during everyday use, nor for some time after that, however, it is a comfort to know that if for some reason, human error or material defect, it did in this period. develop a fault the company will resolve it. I have faith that Festool will stand by their product and be fair: after all it is just so easy to get a bad name in business, while a good name can take years of hard work and effort.
