Cutting sliding dovetails with OF 1400, Edging Plate, and Angle Arm

Would the edging plate (486058) + angle arm (486052) be suitable for both male and female sliding dovetails on the skinny edge of a board? (The male dovetail would require two passes, one on each side of the workpiece).

The attached picture makes it look like this is possible, but I want to see if I'm missing something. Thanks!

[member=72792]escapegoat[/member] I have used the edging plate for sliding dovetails in the past doing the two pass method you describe for the male component.  I got it to work, but I found it a bit finnicky to get the adjustments right, so I have stuck with executing them on my router table when I've had to do them again.

Full disclosure......I haven’t done it......if I did I’d do a bunch of practice boards first as you may want to pivot the edging plate to remain on the horizontal board as much as possible as you get near the front and back edge of the board. This is a great accessory for trimming edge banding and hardwood edge banding and I use the techniques described above for that to maintain as much surface area contact as possible. I could see your idea work but it would take patience and a bunch of dry runs.....If you had a router table I’d use that but if not Personally I would give your idea a try
