I did a search for this and found one post about connecting another guide rail to the one your cutting. The problem is starting and ending the cut where the saw is not fully on the guide. How do most of you do it?? Your methods would be a big help. I realized the problem as soon as I saw that the start of the cut would not have the alignment things engaged. I have not tried anything yet so I haven't ruined the splinterguard yet.

Thanks  Charles

hi charles

what you need to do is connect another rail to the start and end of the rail and make sure the green cam locks are tight so you have no sideways play but make sure your saw still guides smoothly

I know exactly what you are referring to. I had the same quandary when I set my saw up the other day. I did not worry about the inch or so of splinter guard at the start of the rail. I placed the saw as far back as it would go on the rail when the cams were engaged and plunged from there. Likewise I went as far as I could at the end. I figured that I would not be able to use the guide rail beyond those points anyway.

Richard.

Richard's post above is correct.  This leave a little bit of the rubber strip uncut at either end.  No problem, but if you have another rail (or two) and rail connectors you can join the rails and cut that uncut portion to match.
