Well, it's been announced.  J 1 as we call it in the streets, or June 1st, these new drills will be available.

As discussed in various other threads, they've truly proven themselves to those of us that have had the opportunity to use them in training courses either in Indiana or Nevada.  Be sure to look into these drills, they certainly impress.  And they're being released at a shockingly easily digestible price.  This may be the tool to bring Festool cordless drills and products to the masses.  I'd love to hear your thoughts on this last statement.  Imagine this becomes a best seller in the cordless drill category in the US this year?  Imagine what that could do for Festool?  Can you say more money for new products, R & D, etc?  More Recon sales!?  lol

Additionally, the new microsite is live.  Check it out now for a TON of information on all the new drills, specs, features, etc.

I agree that the price is good, but I doubt that I will purchase one.

I wish good luck to Festool in this new market they appear to be attempting to penetrate.  But, the big problem that I see, is their lack of presence in the type of store that sells inxepensive tools.  In order to appeal to the mass market, they would need to let outlets other than their official Festool dealers sell these drills

You never know Frank, that could always be part of the plan.  Seeing retailers like Amazon and Wal Mart selling Festool really says that.

The low price of the drill sort of disappointed me, I hope its not the road they are heading.

To be completely honest, half the reason I own Festools is due to the high price. I feel a professional should use high quality tools. When I go to a customers house I used to hate hearing "hey, nice drill I have the same one" Every time I pulled out my Dewalt.

I see more and more stores selling Festool. As a business owner I cant blame them for wanting to grow and make more money but as a customer it is a little disappointing that they are becoming so common, I feel it is just a matter of time now before the quality goes down or the sell out to another company.

Hopefully I am wrong!

Gates, consider this.  Festool and their parent company, TTS, as well as other subsidiaries have been around for almost 100 years at this point.  They've proven not to be seduced by cutting costs, producing sub par products, cutting corners, outsourcing labor for cheaper costs, etc.  I think their track record speaks for itself.  Your concerns are certainly somewhat valid, but relative to the subject matter, I think you can rest assure that you have nothing to worry about.

I didn't know that Wal Mart and Amazon carried Festool (because I never shop at either).   I bet that they don't sell Festool in Canada

To be clear, it's Walmart.com

Dewalt 12 volt is $140 at the big box store. Not as nice but, but $85 cheaper means a lot to the average buyer. Also, could Festool even make enough of these to be number 1 in US market? Woodcraft and other store dealers should push this one a lot and we can see what happens with the more casual buyer.

Is there a comparison of this drill vs the  other Festools that are currently our or about to come.  l already know about the non-brushless motor.

Actually, the CXS does not have a brushless motor. Dealers are chomping at the bit to release the new drill micro site. So, here it is...

Shane, that comparison page gives a nice overview, but I think there's a small error in the comparison chart.
It says the C12 has the 3.0 Ah batteries, while in the pictures that show the batteryguage etcetara, it says the C12 has 1.5 Ah batteries (which I think is the case, judging by the weight-difference with the T12, which does have the higher capacity batteries)

You're right, thanks for pointing out the mistake. It's been corrected. The C 12 LiIon will have a 1.5Ah battery.

I wish they would have included the number of spax screws driven per charge with the cxs on the chart.

I didn't have that spec, but will see if we can find out from Germany.

Shane, if Germany hasn't tested this send me a CXS and I'll get screwing. [tongue]

Ken,

Sorry to inform you but Shane got another smaller dartboard for other things.  The really big one is exclusively yours.  Take pride my friend - you've worked hard and earned it.
