I have a T15 set but have been wanting to buy a second drill - primarily to not keep changing chucks and bits when switching between drilling and driving. I ordered a CXS (basic) & Centrotec set yesterday and it is on its way but thinking if i should return the CXS and get a C18 basic instead. I do not need extra chucks or batteries, and the difference in price is not too much between the two ($300 vs $235). The C18 might be more robust and I'll have the option of buying 18V battery if I ever wanted more torque. Wanted to get some advice from folks who may have faced this dilemma before. What would you suggest? Thanks.

I don't have this dilemma but I would say this.  Keep the CXS if you need something to drive screws etc.  Not huge lag screws.  From what I hear, the CSX is excellent for assembly etc because it's so light and easy to use.  For some people, using a 18V drill with 4.5AMP batteries is rough on the wrist etc.

Obviously, if you want versatility to be able to do it all, go C18/T18.  But if since you have a higher powered T15, maybe you can use the T15 to drill, then the CSX to drive.  Might be good to have both...I know my next drill is gonna be a CSX.  I have a T18 now.

Extra chucks and bits holders... but you discounted that already.

I use a corded drill for more torque.

I have the T15 and the CXS, and they are perfect for what I do.  My use is building furniture.  They both have plenty of power for my purposes.  If you are using them on a construction site where the drills will get heavy use, then I would consider the C18 instead of the CXS.  It really depends on how you are going to use them.

The CSX and the C18 are vastly different tools. I own the TSX, CSX, and T18. Unless I need to power through some heavy duty drilling, I reach for the CSX or TSX every time. Both are delightful to use and both have enough power for most of my tasks.

I've got the entire range - I use the PDC an CXS the most. That said, whenever I pull out the C15 or C18 I marvel a how smooth and precise they are. It really depends on your application.

I find that the CXS and the C15 are complimentary. Based on this experience I believe that a CXS/C18 combination would enhance your work flow, particularly in areas such as final fix, cabinetry and kitchen installation.

If it was to be one, I would keep the CXS.

I think you might be surprised how powerful the CXS is.  I have a CXS and an older 18v Bosch with hammer action which until the CXS I used everywhere.  Now I use the CXS for almost everything  - unless I need the percussion.

Check out this CXS review:

I've run full circle on the Festool screwdrivers and drills and have tried most of the competition as well.
There is simply no replacing the CXS in my line up.

Fein has a few 12V drills I would consider but at the end of the day I can't help but think that the T18 with the 2,6Ah battery and the CXS are a brilliant pairing.

Thanks guys. I'll keep the CXS as it seems to be the most loved drill with everyone who owns one.

I think this is very simple... It depends on if it how much you care about both drills being able to use the same charger &  battery platform?  That as I see it would be the main advantage of getting the C18.

Otherwise i think the CXS adds more to your setup. It really is the best drill ever except when it's not powerful enough..
