Hello Gentlemen,
My CXS is wery when I drill some 12 mm holes. When I give battery  to charging, charger  shows  red Light(High  temperature).

I dont do this every  day, but is this problem for this drill?

Mine doesn't get hot. I was just outside using one (90 degree day) and it stayed cool.

How large screw you screwed?  12 mm diametr and 10cm long drill bit is 0.5 inch,  4inch long drill bit. When I screw  5-6mm, 50mm screws, everything  seems  ok.

Couldn't find direct specs for this drill other than 5/16 chuck capacity but using a compact 10.8v drill of any kind to bore a bunch of 1/2" holes seems excessive.

I use the old C12 and boring a bunch of 1/2" holes would give it some grief and probably overheat the batteries fairly quickly. I rarely force the cut and always make sure the chips are clear.

Might need to let the batteries cool down before trying to charge after such loads.

With a bit of 12 mm thick you are really pushing your drill. The CXS is not made for such large bits, so no wonder it is overheating.

Do this a couple more times and your CXS is toast. You really need a larger drill for those 12 mm holes, at least a T15.

Yup, be careful, the CXS will not last you very long with that size drills. Ask me how I know...
...I use the CXS less often than I would like to but knowing the limitations I still have use for them from time to time. Sometimes they are super handy and sometimes they fall a bit short of the mark for repetitive tasks where the next step up would work so much better, like the T12/C12.

Festool have come through with most on the "wish list" for the CXS for me though; they just need to churn out a brushless version soon. :)

Hmmm, interesting. So I need a big and powerfull  drill. I have corded Narex(manufacture  of Festool), and its perfect drill, but Its corded.

DB: well, it doesn't have to be big - just powerful. :)

The CXS is a great little machine but it is just not that powerful. If you start thinking it will do "fine" with drilling and driving large screws - which it can do - you are shortening the life span of the machine considerably.

I have driven a few 5x100mm in wood beams with the CXS but after a few I started thinking this is really taxing on the drill. I don't recommend it and that is how I wore out my old CXS.

Well plug it in then. [wink]

Ouch - but lol as well.

Think it's being cruel to the CXS - ok, guess we've all pushed tools sometimes; but hope are doing it from a position of 'awareness' that not good idea to 'overdo it' on a regular basis.

My vague analogy would be, that to fill a small van slightly beyond it's weight limit with, say, many bags of cement, and then bomb up the motorway, or, over bumpy roads - is asking for trouble.  Putting the legal stuff on one side; suspension, engine, gearbox will be really stressed out.  Just not designed for that type of load on a regular basis.

I bought Plug It  cable  7.5m long and is much better, but  I am so lazy  to plug it in to wall.

I guess you are right. It  is really  dumb hardcore use CXS. I am happy with CXS and i use it daily, so I forgot  where the limits of CXS are.
In future I dont use CXS for big jobs.

I am not immune to being lazy myself, but it is easier to be a critic.
If you saw how many times I have done the same thing you would have posted the same message [big grin]

But I recall the Dead Kennedy's album was named "Give me convenience or give me death".

LOL. Priceless, Thank you for making me realise that I'm not quite as lazy as I thought I was!
