Cyclone unit or single stage plus dust deputy?

I am in need of dust collection for garage shop.  Mainly for table saw, router station, drill press and miter saw.  Not opposed to attaching each tool at a time with flex hose.  Tired of reading same old forum posts or ads about which is better.  Just confuses my decision more.  So my question is, do I buy a cyclone unit or a 2hp single stage and add dust deputy and filter?  After all accessories the 2nd option is going to be about 300 cheaper.  Anyone with experience one way or another will definitely help.
Thanks
Brian

Cyclone by far.

I got rid of all my dust deputy's.

To me those are for people trying to upgrade what they have. I never understood why anyone that had money for a good cyclone to start would even mess with it.

I had 3 dust deputy(sold two of them here). I also own two Jet single stage, one is a newer 2HP vortex and one is an older model, both with the Dust Dog Type Drum top filter.  I also owned a 3HP cyclone I replaced with a 5HP Grizzly Cyclone. I have a Harbor freight 2 HP hooked to a CNC as well, with an upgraded drum filter top. I sold off a 1.5 HP Delta that was hooked to a DD. So I think I have had a nice bunch to compare.

The cyclones are the best.

Now a couple companies have portable roll around cyclones and I would get one of those in a heartbeat.

Just do a cyclone and be done with it.  I initially went a single stage unit coupled with a cyclone type separator.  The problem was that the really fine dust still could make it through the single stage bag.  In addition the separator reduced the CFM of the single stage which was was already strained.  I sold those and got a 3HP Oneida V3000 w/HEPA filter and plumbed my garage with 6" sewer/drain PVC.  I wish I done that to begin with.

I recently downsized and couldn't fit the cyclone in my new shop, so I have now (regrettably) gone the HEPA shop vac/dust deputy way.  It works, but nowhere near as well as the cyclone.  The cyclone made a huge improvement when used with my planer, table saw and router table with above and below dust collection.

I know the short cyclone portable units (jet, laguna) get bad reviews but they are convenient and accessible. Are they worth the investment?  Half the price of Oneida and not as tall.
