D27 Rotating Connector

First post, so it should be a dumb one...
Does the D27 rotating connector replace the tool end of the 27mm hose, or does the existing tool end of the hose just plug in to the connector?

What is called the "Rotating Connector" is for the Dust Extractor end of the hose.

You can also take the tool tip off of one hose and add a second rotating connector so that you can use a Hose Connector Sleeve to connect it to another hose.
