Dealers Take Over the FOG

Even the casual observer would note the large number of posts in the past 24hrs reflecting the excitement from some US members regarding the recent release of the new ETS125 Sander and its associated Special Offer.

I have no problem with well respected Dealer members announcing that they are open for business regarding this special offer.

However I find it annoying that a significant number of the posts that follow are really in the realm of what should be direct correspondence between customer and dealer.  There is a big difference between discussion and questions regarding the features of the sander compared to statements such as my order is in, count me in, have you got my order, I ordered two (Dealer Name), what payment, when should I expect delivery etc.,.

I realise this post will annoy some, but imagine if we read here every detail regarding [member=13058]Kev[/member] 's  weekly correspondence with Northern Abrasives in Sydney!

It's not the dealers taking over it's their customers.
Many of them ordinarily post interesting comments.
They're just a little overexcited right now.  [wink]

Agree [member=297]Michael Kellough[/member]

I understand the excitement - it is a great offer by Festool USA and these dealers. I certainly do not want respectable dealers censored from providing members with information. I think the problem is really about FOG moderation the next time such an offer comes about.

Mark this date well for it will be forever known as "Green" Tuesday, October 4, 2016. representing a sea change in Festool marketing in NA. It started with the Imperial surrender, worked up to the pre-introduction price of the new track cross-cut saws and now a not-to-be believed intro price for a very nice sander.

Accordingly, a year from now, FOG will have at least doubled and we will see a lot more buy-in from the great un-washed. Heaven help us....dealers and all. I don't think, even among the wisest on FOG, anyone expected to see Festool sprinkle $50.00 gift certificates out the window. Imagine, each one of those represents a second Festool tool purchase. This is going to be a fun ride from now on.

Ah if only Festool Australia were so inclined to entice new customers with such a generous promotion.
That ACCC-legalised fixed-pricing pays off for the customer yet again.... ::)

Was there a special price on the HKC(?)?

I don't remember an intro (discounted) price on the HKC line.

Peter

I don't see why this should bother anybody. It's obvious people are excited, with all right to be so because this is the most spectacular offer I have seen yet from Festool.

Yes, "I'm in" posts aren't that exciting to read, but it's not like they take up a lot of your time, and the more interesting posts are still there. In a few days everything will be back to normal when the thrill of the moment is over.

Only thing that bothers me is that this offer isn't made in The Netherlands.  What you get for effectively $49 I have to pay €350. [mad]

You're not suggesting that instead we go back to beating kapex to death and defending the high prices of the tools in general as the forum mainstays are you ?  [huh]

I have to agree with Alex, not only are people excited about this offer, but quite frankly, I see a lot of posts like this on other non-$99 sander threads as well.  It's a forum and everyone is welcome to add their two cents.  How many project threads have we seen comments like "Great job!" - not very interesting to read and not adding any new information, but certainly not offensive either.  No harm, no foul.

I'd suggest just lighten up and not take anyone's posts too seriously.  Enjoy what you enjoy and just ignore the rest...

(That's MY two cents....)

Funny... [big grin]

[size=13pt]Thank you all for your replys.

I note that the majority of more recent posts regarding the Special Offer are discussing features and technical issues. Fair enough.  [smile]

[member=48572]Shane Holland[/member]  is very patient.  [smile] [blink]

We live in hope [member=6299]Mike B[/member] .
As you no doubt know, this special offer is but one of quite a few Festool USA pricing and customer focus initiatives that Festool Aust. could learn much from.

Kapex  issues might be an exception!  [eek]

This thread reminds me of earlier complaints to people posting +1 to express agreement with another post. Then there were complaints about signatures.

People expressing excitement about a great offer isn't something that needs moderating. The mods time is far better spent.

Thanks guys for making this personal, something that I was trying to avoid here.

Every FOG member has a right, or so l believe, to make suggestions that might improve the FOG experience. Even both of you.  Whether these suggestions are universally accepted by the membership or the moderators is another matter. I believe this to be a relatively open forum and consequently suggestions for its improvement should be welcomed.

Personal? Hardly my intent, just providing my own thoughts and observations on the topic. But ya gotta admit Chris' post is kinda funny

Show me where this ever happens about people SPECIFIC ORDERS? That might happen once every 6 months, I just rarely see it and its normally someone new that doesn't know he should email the company directly.  Asking a timeline on a special deal is not the same as inquiring about ther own transaction and communicating with the seller about ONLY their order. I think the OP may have just quickly misread the posts, no big deal. I see not one question in this thread or the other about these sanders that are about a specif order and the dealer going back and forth with them about their order. That just doesn't happen here as a rule at all.

And if it did and I maintain its a super rare occasion, simply don't read the threads. I myself have PM Shane many times about orders, I don't post the questions about my order, but I do see a newb making that mistake from time to time, that's about it and doesn't really bother me. They just don't know better at first.

Thank you for your input. Looking at your Replys within the Thread concerned, I see you discussing the features, technical aspects and issues related to the sander. I have no beef with that.
