I've been wanting wings for my miter saw for a long time but never could come up with a good way to mount them. For a variety of reasons I finally broke down and bought a Kapex this week. While I was tempted by the UG wings, I found out that I could actually make my own quite easily. I'm really happy with the results. I may replace the heavy Ridgid stand sooner or later, but however I go, I can easel move them to any other stand since all the stand does is hold up the far ends--and I could easily a folding leg too. A lot of ideas for these came from a friends similar wings, with some refinements in the clamps.

Clamps engaged. A piece of machined UHMW fits into the v-grooves on the saw for locators.

Matt,

Great execution and pics.  Do you have any more of the clamp mechanism?  That is pretty slick.

Very nice. Did you find it difficult to get the Kreg tapes exactly right? I presume they're accurate for cutting on either side.

Thanks for sharing.

this is exactly what I've been looking for. thanks for posting, I'm going to steal your idea!

Well executed!

Did you cut the black plastic peices or take them off of something else?  They look identical to the black on the crown stops.
