Design for mechanics stacked tool chest in wood (and a question about dominos)

Here is my hallucination, rendered in Sketchup, for a wood copy of the Dewalt DWMT73679-78 mechanics chest.

I thought it could be done using 1/2" baltic birch and 3/4" solid wood, so the model reflects that.  As for the steel version, this is in two sections so the top can be lifted off.  Top tool tray of the base and the floor of the top chest are both lipped so your expensive tools don't roll off and bounce off your concrete floor.

My question about dominos is this.  I envision the drawerbox joints with through 5mm tenons, and wonder since the 700 will only cut a 5mm mortise at 20mm depth (want to plunge through sides and backs-fronts with parts together), what is easier:

a.) cutting down 5mm dominos before assembly
b.) putting in long and flush-sawing after glueup
c.) making one's own 5mm tenon stock

I'd go with "b".

Looks good the sketchup drawing. I'll be interested in seeing progress images of this project. As I'm considering similar project in the near future.

My only concern would be the long term strength of the lift-up lid with those compound angles. But I guess dominos and glue should be strong enough?

Cheers.

Do you plan for it to be stationary or moveable? I only ask because its going to be HEAVY made from wood. I've got the Milwaukre version of that in my trailer right near the tongue and it sure weighs it down. For something in a shop that's a sweet idea. If you ever need to move it, best of luck lol.
