Purchased the planer in the title, got a fairly good deal on the combo planer and stand.  Arrived with a small issue where the turret just spins.  Doesn't stop at the depth numbers.  It's like either something is preventing it from engaging the detents or something is missing.  Not a big deal other than the hassle of sending back a 115 pound piece of machinery.  Rockler was fantastic in that they already sent out the replacement. Now I just need to drop off the one I've got with UPS. Here's hoping the next one works properly.  Anyone else run into this?
 
Wow, that sucks. I know my 3/4” stop works only because I used it to set my Wixey depth gauge. Otherwise, I never use the stops. Glad to hear Rockler took care of you.
 
I have the original version of the Dewalt 735.  I know it's only 13", but this has actually been the best planer I have worked with for a couple of reasons.  First, it's small and compact - which means I can just stick it under the 52" table of my tablesaw when I'm not using it.  Second is the dust collection is the best I have used (though you really need a true dust collector).  I have a full height 2HP Jet dust collector (3" hose).  There are absolutely no shavings left in the planer and no gunk that collects around the wheels and dust system.  I have used full size Powermatic/Jet planers at the 15" level and they always got gunked up with wood chips/shavings even when using a full size dust collector.

Just be sure to hold/support your board as it exits and keep support when it gets to the end to prevent snipe.  Also, I recommend getting some steel HSS knives if you are going to do any extensive planing.  The stock knives are like razor blades and don't last long.
