Df500 connectors using df700

Hi! I have the df700 with the small mortise kit. I want to utilize the knock down connectors for the df500 using the df700 with the small mortise kit, but the depht scale is not suitable for such use on the df700.

Have anyone tried this, shimming or other solutions, with success?

Bonus question: the stock thickness limit for the df700 connectors is 30mm. 26mm is the standard of the material i operate, hence the first question. But has anyone tried with success using the df700 connectors on thinner than 30mm stock?

I use the DF700 to make mortices for the D8 connectors, no problems whatsoever, no shimming needed.
What's your exact problem?

In case you think about the split anchor side: 6mm to each side of it would still be OK for many uses, especially as it's expanding (when tightening) in the other direction. In case you think about depth of the mortice: might look ugly in case you go through the material fully, but as long as the anchor dosn't protrude on the back it should hold when tightened.

Similar on the cross anchor side, but here you'll have the problem of no longer being able to use the decorative caps to hide the mechanics, and the mortice for the cross anchor going all the way through the stock so you'll have to hold it in place when installing.

Certainly one shoud, especially when leaving the ranges that Festool set for CYA reasons, test that the actual result provides the needed stability.

With the df500 connectors it says in instructions that one end must be mortised with depht of 28mm, which is a setting the df500 has and the df700 doesnt. So this is not a problem? You use 30mm then?

Reading your take on the big connectors, i think i will test this out. Thanks.

If it's the 28 mm direction that's giving you trouble, I see no reason why the DF700 won't work. 28 mm is just the maximum depth of the DF500, and the piece it's cutting is the set screw side where the only limit would be the width of the shelf/whatever you are fastening (which should be fine). Using a 30 mm plunge depth would pose no issues in this direction, only the 15 mm in the opposite direction is the critical one.

Not really, just don't tap the spreading anchor in too deep.
