Different length D 36 hoses have different rubber tool ends?

Hi,

I recently bought the Universal Cleaning Set D 36 UNI-RS-Plus.  Two things it came with are the Suction hose D 36x3,5m and the Dust Extractor Tube D 36 HR-K AS.  The Dust Extractor Tube D 36 HR-K AS has little protruding bumps that fit into matching grooves in the end of the Suction hose D 36x3,5m and I can see how you twist the Dust Extractor Tube D 36 HR-K AS to lock it into place inside the tool end of the hose.

I also bought the Suction hose D 36x7m because I wanted a longer hose.  This longer hose, though, does not have the same grooves in it that match up with the Dust Extractor Tube D 36 HR-K AS like the Suction hose D 36x3,5m does.  Is this longer hose not meant to work with the Dust Extractor Tube D 36 HR-K AS?

Thanks!
Ryan

You appeared to have bought an non anti static hose.  I don’t know if those artistic hoses have gone to the new twist lock system but the part number for an anti static 36 mm hose is:  500685.

You may want to call Festool and ask them about the hose you want especially if you don’t want the anti static hose (cheaper).

I would call Festool and have them send you the newer twist-lock hose end. Or, maybe talk to your dealer first.

Festool has been changing up their hose lineup, and it is difficult to know exactly what you will get at times because the photos and descriptions don't always match the actual product. Both hoses you ordered (the one in the kit and the separate one) are antistatic hoses, so you know that they already have the twist-lock fittings for the D36 non antistatic hoses -- you either got an earlier version 7m hose, or maybe they haven't received the newer 7m versions from the factory yet.

I see that the latest twist-lock equipped hoses also have those grooves inside the vacuum-end fitting such that you can readily attach these newer hoses together -- in other words, you could have ordered a second 3.5m hose instead of that longer one and simply connected the two D36 hoses together. You may want to verify this with the hose that came in the kit and try connecting its tool-end fitting into its vacuum-end fitting. If they lock together, then both of the fittings on that hose are the newer ones. You will most likely want these fittings on both hoses no matter what length you get.

I bought the same or similar kit earlier this year. It does NOT come with an anti-static hose. The grey hoses...per the description from Festool USA:

Includes

Non-Antistatic Hose
, 36mm x 3.5m

Not a surprise the hose ends are different, as the newer hoses were redesigned to attach together end to end. Looks like it might be time return an item or two and get what you actually need. Anti-static hoses are good to have.

Sorry, I really meant that they were both non-antistatic hoses. Just typed it wrong.

Hi Corwin,

Thanks.  I'll have to call Festool.  Hopefully they'll be willing to exchange it for me, as I've already used it as is.  I had an immediate need for it.

Yeah.  I bought the 7m non-antistatic hose because it was cheaper.

I just checked the 3.5m hose that came with my kit and it doesn't lock together end-to-end.  I think that's what you were saying it would do if it was the latest, latest?  I was kind of hoping that the hoses would do that so that I could just string them together.  So maybe there's an even newer kit, you're saying...and that my 3.5m hose with the grooves in the tool end still isn't the latest one they offer now?  So confusing.  [sad]

Thanks.
Ryan

As I understand it, the newest hoses will have fittings that allow you to connect two hoses together, or connect the tool end into the vacuum end. Seems odd that your new hose has the newer tool end and an older vacuum end fitting.  [huh]
