Disappointed with latest reconditioned purchase

Recently, I purchased my first reconditioned Festool product. It was the TS 55 REQ at 20% off. After receiving the saw in perfect condition, I ordered the VS 600 jointing system at 30% off. Today, the box arrived and looked brand new. However after opening, I discovered that the VS 600 was badly scratched & dinged. It also has what appeared to be dried food stains on the unit. I must say that I am very disappointed in Festool for selling a product labeled as reconditioned when it should be clearly marked as used. I thought the Festool service department cleaned and serviced all reconditioned items before shipping them out. Buyer Beware!!!

Sorry that you're dissatisfied with the VS 600. We do state the condition of a 30% tool is "Moderately used tools. Original packaging damaged (tears, spots and dust)". If you'd like to send me photos of your VS 600, we can evaluate whether it falls within the acceptable condition for a 30% off tool and go from there.

In the future, can I suggest that you contact us and give us an opportunity to assess and remedy the situation?

Thank you.

I think it was a typo, the TS55REQ was just released and not available reconditioned.  He probably meant the TS55EQ.

there would be machines returned under the 30 day thing that would then be sold in this program.

Well, guess who paid full price not knowing he could have picked up a recon unit?    :'(

Yeah, but you get the full three year warranty and the 30 day no question asked return option.

Shane, next time you do the recon sale, I will post a picture of my 18 month old RO90. Everyone will feel really good about what they are getting.  [big grin]

I don't know, I think Darcy (WarnerConstCo) might take the cake for roughing up tools.  [smile]

I agree with the others - I saw a REQ up there for a while.  I might describe it as there were 2 phases to this sale - phase 1 when it was first announced and then a second phase when they discovered a bug and a bunch more things showed up.

I missed a Domino on the first phase but they showed up again on the second phase.  That's also when I saw the REQ and deliberated (but passed) on it.  So it definitely was there.  I also picked up a CXS in phase 2, that had already disappeared in the first phase.

I was also surprised to see an REQ and I think it was even 10 and 20%.
I picked 4 tools on the second round.
Cheers

Ahhhhhh, that explains it!  Sorry, I'm new here and just jumped in the green pool.  I'll file that away for next year.  Thanks!

I just got a 2200 Router through the reconditioned program.  It was 10% off and showed up looking like new - even had the plastic on the baseplate.  It was in a classic systainer, which may have been why it was 10% off.

It it was used, it was used as a bookend...  My first reconditioned tool, and very happy with the purchase!

Brice is 100% correct. The recon program has merits. It's a win-win for customers and Festool. But though bargains are there, there is a quid pro quo, as Brice mentioned.
