Disappointed with latest reconditioned purchase

Shane, next time you do the recon sale, I will post a picture of my 18 month old RO90. Everyone will feel really good about what they are getting.  [big grin]

I've been using my dts400 for drywall as shown in your article, now its dirty...

Well, guess who paid full price not knowing he could have picked up a recon unit?     :'(

Yeah, but you get the full three year warranty and the 30 day no question asked return option.

Brice is 100% correct. The recon program has merits. It's a win-win for customers and Festool. But though bargains are there, there is a quid pro quo, as Brice mentioned.

Bob

For me personally the discounts aren't nearly big enough to forgo the full waranty and return policy. Of course everyones mileage will vary.

My point exactly Paul, though for many people it's a great way - at the right price to either add to, or enter the world of Festool. What I do have is confidence in the recon tools, OP issue not withstanding and that most people are extremely satisfied with their recon tool purchases.

Have to agree here, Bob. I watched Erock's video where he open boxed his recon tools, and you'd have sworn they were procured from the Brice Burrell Collection.

[big grin] (sorry Brice, couldn't resist)

Agreed. Right now I'm getting my Festool firsts, if/when I'm getting seconds of the same tools these sales would be a perfect fit for me.

As said, this is not for everyone, but it does give folks an opportunity to get tools at a very good price.  Personally I like the warranty and knowing that I am the first person to put it to wood and it is worth paying a little more for it (at least for mechanical tools) but I have bought MFTs and other items used.  I am glad that Festool does this and hope it continues.

Of course!  I did a little of both since I'm just starting out as a DIYer.  Generally the extra warranty has little added value for me.  I know I'm not going to put these tools through the usage that the pros would, so if it makes it to the end of year one, I'm pretty confident it'll be fine until year 10.  So really it boils down to the 30 day return policy for me.  The TS55/CT26 bundle I knew I would never send back, but I didn't know about the Festool's recon program (this was before I learned about Bob as well).  Bob ordered the domino for me (20%) and although it appears used, it's very clean, I'm thrilled!  I did ask him to send me a new ETS150 though, since I was unsure which of the sanders would be suit me best (30 days!).  If I can hold out until next year, I'll get a recon router, but something tells me I'm not going to wait that long.  :)

jb30309,

Welcome to the FOG! Sorry to hear about  your tool's problem.
I purchased few recon tools. Some of them were better than expected, some of them as expected. Only one tool was worse then expected, but it was marked at 30% off. Might be my previous purchases were too good :).
There were few missing parts and one damage systainer during shipping, but all of these problems were resolved quickly, and without any problems. A+ for Festool's customer support.
