I can understand why the DX93 has to go. More or less superflouos with the RO90 now calling the shots.

But the C15? Thought that one was pretty popular. Or is not the drill going but just the package it comes in being changed?

I'm sure the C15's aren't going away! Although we don't have official word yet...page 106 of the 2014 catalog shows new part numbers for the C15 and an upgrade to the 4.2 Ah battery. Along the lines of what we saw with the T-drills recently.

Right, and the UK got the updated C15 kits with 4.2ah batteries last Dec.

Honestly, I've often wondered about the wisdom of offering so many batteries. It seems like Festool, like many other manufacturers, is leaning towards 18v. Everything even remotely new except the Ti15 uses the 18v batteries. What is the benefit of the T15 vs the T18? It looks like the 15 are only a few ounces lighter. It would make sense to me if they consolidated to 10.8v (or whatever the CXS is) and 18v.

(I know this ignores the C type drills, so I guess I could see a C12 or C15, but once you hit the 15, why not just go to C18)  [big grin]

Most manufacturers offer a wide range of voltages to choose from. Actually, Festool is most heavily invested in 15v.

Some new additions are 18v, but those additions are simply tools rebadged in green from the killed-off Protool brand.

The 3 former Protool machines (PDC, DRC and DWC) are now only available in 18 V.
But they used to be available in 12 V (only DWC) and 15 V versions under the Protool brand.

Festool by the time only had 2 machines: the T 18 drill, the PSC 400/420-18 V jigsaw and a no-machine the Syslite.
Now are followed with 2 new machines like the BHC 18 sds drill and TSC 55 circular saw (also uses 15 v).

So now the total is 7 machines, and the Syslite.

I think Elfick is right and Festool is aiming for the 18 V machines these days.
I also think there will be a C 18 drill and TI 18 Impact drill in the future.
They also recently (this month) launched a campaign about the 18 V machines where you can easily switch the 18 V batteries or use lower 12-15 V batteries in 18 V machines.
Although I personally don't think it's handy switching batteries all the time, because you cannot grab the machines when you need them if you first have to switch the batteries first.

I'd personally rather see them have just two voltage options, like the 10.8v for the CXS and 18v for everything else, and offer options in amp-hr capacity in order to provide batteries in different weights.

I love my DX93, but understand why the RO 90 is more popular.

The price of the C15 remain unchanged? I was at my dealer last week and the price has not changed since they discountinued the tools..

They are not discontinued yet. There also is no automatic price reduction as a result.
