I was a little bored today, attempting to avoid tiling a bathroom, so I thought, based on the fact I feel my MFT/3 is a little small and they (FESBOYS) don't seem to have done a stand alone table - nor do I have space for it, I thought I would attempt to do a leaf with some 25mm MDF. This was my first and it fits like a glove - ok, I need to make a few 1mm adjustments here and their and it will be spot on. The next one I will incorporate clamping - like the knobs you get in those flat clamps that work with the MFT/3.

As I had the MDF lying around, this was pretty cheap and means I can now move the drop guide further up the table to let me put larger peices on. I will build two more of these, one for the side and one for the rear.

You can also see I've got two "angle" adjusters on the straight edge - I borrowed the other from my CMS unit, works fine and means their is no bend on the the Alu when you push large/heavy material against the Alu...

These pieces slot onto anyside in about 15 secs. I'll see how it goes and see if I need any addition support, but I should not. The main load goes down the table...

Looks like a great idea!

I just know personally I would forget and lean on it and destroy my rail.

Nick,

If you excert too much pressure, they just pop out - they don't break, bend or snap. Domino jointed connections, the table sits 0.5mm below MFT, slides up and down the v-groove and camps in place where ever you like !!! Normal MFT holes, so you can clamp on it... Not perfect, but solves my problem without spending more that a fiver - and i'm as tight as they come !

Great Idea.

.But...there must be a lot of leverage about the ALU side rail. If you learnt against it too hard or someone put  too much weight wouldn't it rip the side rail out  and cause an accident ...  I think it seems a nice prototype  but it needs  modifying to be safe in operation.

Maybe some  kind of legs made out of ALU which locate into the bottom of the extensionsurface  somehow , maybe into the clamp holes themselves. Wouldn't want anyone to  put a festool on the end of the extension and see it ....get totalled.. :-\

Safe... You guys choke me up...

Please find attached my "rip-it-to-back-to-shell" project... How do you think those steels got all the way up their - safe !!! Nah, just think big climbing frame... Oh, don't ask why the supports for the steel are floating...

So far, no accidents with the bit of wood... :-)

Actually, just found a better one... How NOT to attach timber inside an RSJ. I have to admit, I'm amazed I'm still alive...
