Do I turn the Kapex laser on and off, or leave it on?

Lets say I will be making one cut every 5 minutes for the next hour.  Do I just leave the laser on, or turn it on when I need it, and off after?

Some stuff wears out by being left on, other stuff wears out by being turned on and off.  I don't know which the laser is.

(If you must know; I am assembling a cabinet in my garage, but the saw is in my basement.  I have to "fit" several pieces, so I am taking off a 128th, trying it, taking off another 128th...  It is good exercise.)

I don't know the right answer but I leave them on. I bring the saw up to the garage, nothing hurts the quality of a job more than too much walking back and forth to the saw.

i would just leave it on.  it turns off automatically after so long anyway.  at your rate it will last a long long time.

Lasers are a bit like fluorescent lights, they are better left on. This will give a longer life.

Ever tried a story stick? Search Lee Valley for bar gauges, or something like that. Little nuts on sliding sticks that lock the sticks to any length. Then you just use the stick to set up the saw. Then you have to have a cahoones to cut right to line line from the stick.

According to the supplemental manual, the laser shuts off after 30 minutes of not being used.

As David mentioned that Laser will shut off after 30 minutes. You'll probably wear the button contacts before you wear out the laser so I'd leave it on and let it time out after 30 minutes
