Do you use the lasers on your Kapex?

I don't.

I started off using them when I first got it, but found them to be more of a hinderance than not.

I use the Kapex mostly for making furniture, and use a very light pencil line, butted up to my rear zero clearance fence.

The laser is far too bright and obscures the pencil line for perfect acuracy.

Just my 2 cents.

I do. When I'm cutting at 90 degrees I typically just dip the stationary blade to check position, anything else I use the laser.

I do practically wit each cut, if you use a normal pencil line you will see that the red light will darken it even more.

I use the lasers for every cut, every day.  They are adjusted so that the inside edges of the twin lasers mark the kerf of the blade.  I make a fine pencil mark with either a very sharp number 2.5 or a 0.5mm mechanical and line it up with the edge of the laser.

Depends for me..Any indoor work I use them all the time. Outdoors maybe not since they may not be visible as Peter stated.

I will say, and I am not sure why completely. I find sighting the blade on the Kapex more of a nuisance than my last saw. Maybe because of the motor placement and shape of the head of the saw. Overall I use them alot, find them helpful, and I need as much help as I can get.

I always turn them on. They are very useful for most of the cuts I make on the Kapex.

If I'm doing very tight tolerance work, I still drop the blade to the cut line before making the cut.

What surprises me the most about my Kapex is how often I use it. Many times, I'll have the Sawstop table saw set up with a jig and need to make a quick cut. Rather than tear down my table saw set up, I use the Kapex. THe dust collection is awesome. I find letting the saw/vac run for a few seconds before making the cut greatly enhances the dust collection. I guess it's a lot like getting the draft in a chimney going.

I only use the laser when I'm cutting from the left of the blade.  The laser on the right is off by almost 1/8", it was that way when I bought it new 1yr ago and I haven't tried to adjust it yet  [embarassed]

Well... About a month after I bought the Kapex I started a new job that has me working anywhere from 60-75hrs a week and can go over a month without a day off. When I do have a little time off I end up just being lazy  [embarassed]. I'm hoping to cut back my hrs/days at work this year and finally start using all the new tools I've been acquiring since I discovered Festool in December 2011 and fell down the slippery slope.  [eek] Unfortunately my Festool's are in almost brand new condition and some have not been used at all  [sad]  I need to get my priorities straightened out  [thumbs up]

I hear ya, and thats about as legitimate an excuse there is. You do what you gotta do man. The tools can wait! But I know it's stinks to have em sit there, but they aren't goin anywhere and that work schedule won't be forever.

Lasers on both sides of the blade is a blessing though.  [wink]

If I'm cutting anything square like a 1x2, I just hook the tape measure on it and line up the laser to the line on the tape... no marking necessary.  This is a time saver for sure.

Cutting crown on the flat the laser is extremely useful as it shines on the back side where the pencil line is, again a real time saver.

The only time I don't use it is cutting perma-edge.  I have a simple jig for this and the lasers are not usable.

All the time... hardly ever make a pencil mark.  I use my lasers and tape measure to line up most cuts and it works great.

All the time...once the stops are calibrated it all is very accurate.  A little tick mark is all I need for an accurate cut.
