The Dust Extractor end of the 36mm and 27mm hose complies with an International Standard for shop vacs. These 27mm and 36mm Festool hoses should fit any modern shop vac.
Unfortunately not all shop vacs comply with the International Standard.
Yes. Any size Festool hose -- D27, D36 or D50 -- will fit into your ShopVac. Some ShopVac's (like the one I have) have hoses that also have a threaded locking collar that allow you to push the friction-fit hose into the fitting on your vac and then screw the locking collar to secure the hose onto the vac -- while Festool hoses are simply a friction fit, and do not have this locking collar, they will fit into your ShopVac.
Ordering a Festool hose is a great way to use your Festools with your ShopVac. If you plan to later purchase a Festool extractor, purchasing the D36-AS (antistatic) hose is the best choice, since Festool extractors come equipped with a D27-AS hose so you will end up with both size hoses. [thumbs up] But, if you aren't going to get a Festool extractor down the road, you may as well save some money and order one of their non-antistatic hoses (the grey ones without the 'AS' suffix) since your ShopVac isn't setup to ground static charge. Lastly, keep in mind that the tool-end fitting on the D36 hose fits many of the Festool tools, but not any of the sanders or the jig saws, OF1010 router or Domino -- those will require either the D27 hose or the Dave Ronyak Adapter connected to the D36 hose. [big grin] Enjoy!
