I recently purchased the DF500 and have been calibrating, testing and playing with it and am very happy with the purchase. I am going to visit my daughter soon and do not have room to take all my festools with me. I did want to take the DF500 and dominos with me in case I need to do any "dad can you  fix this while you are here" type  items. My question is: Can I use the DF500 with a non-anti-static hose and a small 1.5 hp big box shop vac that she has? or will it mess it up? Any advice or experience will be appreciated.

I can't say for sure, but it seems it would be OK.

If I'm in the "big shop" I use occasionally, I use all my Festools hooked to the big dust collection system with a 4"-2" reducer and a short hose to the tool, not the CT vac.  They all work fine with that, so a smaller vac should also be fine, if not better.  The big system has big CFM, but less suction.  Even a small shop-vac will have plenty of suction.

I have been using Domino 500 for years with a non anti static hose.
Any vac will work. The biggest problem with Festool tools & non Festool  hoses, is connecting them to the tool.

I just bought a domino 500 at the beginning of the month for the sale but couldn't swing buying a vac at the same time.  Fortunately when I took it home and was playing with it I found out that the little shop vac that I used to clean my car fits it just fine. (Shop Vac 1.5 gallon Hang On from Walmart)  Zero dust and chips with the 4mm and 5mm cutters.  I haven't used the bigger cutters yet though.

I'd recommend checking the unit after the first few cuts to be sure the chips are being sucked out.
