Domino 500 getting very hot

I bought a domino 500 about a month ago. I cut 100 mortises on the first project and didn't notice anything odd, but I cut 30 yesterday on a new project and I noticed that the part that pivots the bit on the bottom of the tool is getting very hot. Not hot enough to burn but it is uncomfortable to the touch.

I had two boards to do 9 mortises each on, and on each board it had the domino running the whole time as I was placing it. Due to the shape of the boards, sometimes it took some extra time to get it placed before cutting.

Is it normal for this thing to get that hot? I hadn't noticed it on my first project.

Mine gets hot too. As you say, not so hot as to become painful, but noticeably hot to the touch.

Noticed the same thing on mine yesterday. I'm curious about it too. Mine was on for 3 or 4 minutes at the most between breaks of 5 minutes.

It can get warm, there are numerous threads on the forum about it. Nothing to be worried about.

I've run both of my 500's 8-9 hours without shutting them off.

The gear case gets warm, I avoid touching it there.
