I'm quite new to the Festool world, and I was intrigued enough to purchase both the domino 500 and 700 when they were discounted 10% a few months ago, and followed up with the CT 48. I'm a hobbyist, with machining as my day job and business, and I really appreciate the attention to details and workmanship of these tools. Sadly, I passed on the Kapex for the Bosch last year, and the Dewalt track saw for the TS55, though all is not lost as I find that the Dewalt works with the TS55 track, so a multifunction table is in my future.

(My first projects, some doug fir frames to create tables out of some exterior doors went well; better when I stopped fighting the domino indexing paradigm.)

For today though, my request is for a 9 mm bit for either Domino tool so that I can use it for slots for 9mm baltic birch plywood insertion. It opens up a lot of free form shelving, fixturing, and what not.

How I see this happening is to take a worn 10mm bit to a local tool grinder to create a 9mm bit, but it won't be cost effective on a regular basis, so I'm curious if there are any sharpening services that specialize in Festool domino bits? Also, has anyone had any coating applied (like TiCN common in machining) to increase tool wear resistance?

Thanks,

Tom May

Seneca woodworking may be able to accomplish this task. They're the people who make the domiplate.
