I know a lot of people get hung up on the metric thing and want to buy an imperial scale, I just don't get it. As long as you maintain reference sides, its precise enough not to matter.

I’ve never used the thickness gauge that came on my first gen Domino. Not because it’s metric, just never needed it, but I not using the tool in a high production environment. So this free gauge offer isn’t attractive to me but it is very nice of the ToolCurve folks to make it. There might be some other stuff they make that I do want so again, I appreciate the discount offer too.

Yea...I'm glad I bought all my Festool before they started forcing imperial here in the US. I started using metric in the shop in 2018 and haven't looked back. I do appreciate that folks prefer what they know. At the same time, anyone working with sheet goods is using metric sized stuff anyway. I've seen so many arguments over this kind of thing over the years and the reality of a tool like the Domino is pretty much "who even needs to measure?". Keep a reference surface and make some holes that are about in the middle. Perfect fit. No measuring required.

That thickness gauge .. when is sheetgood ever the advertised thickness anyway?

Better reference from the same side anyway.

I saw such imperial gauges on the makerworld for 3d printing. Like others, the metric gauge doesn't bother me in anyway and there's no point of printing them.

Even the dominoplate is a product unnecessary for those who use sheet goods for a living -- my cabinetmaking friend can attest to it.

I'm thinking of the 3/4" ply in my garage - it's 18mm, 19mm and I think even 15mm.

I agree the Domiplate isn’t necessary but I use it any time I’m working with stock in the 3/4” neighborhood or thinner and leave the fence where it was.

If imperial is so great, and Americans. im one, can't figure out metric, perhaps that's what there is so much financial instability with people. After all 100 dollars bill is made of 100 1 dollars. just as a 1 Centimeter is made up of 100 millimeters. Perhaps we should change our money system to match imperial numbers. So we say oh yeah is 5 dollars and 3/4 dollars. plus 4 dollars and 1/4 dollars = 10 dollars. since people can't make change here give them a 10 dollar bill, and the price is 5.75 they don't know to get back 4.25. Oh well I love my metric gauge on my track saw.

Long ago, I browsed a forum post (not here, it was too stupid...) where someone was saying imperial is better because to divide a measurement by 2, you just multiply "the bottom number" by 2. So I replied, "what do you do with 5-5/8?" and I think it got deleted. Straight up "Use your brian, moran" (sic) stuff

Everything else about the machine is metric, so why bother with it?
As has been stated, most sheet goods are metric too and I don't even want to get started on centering Dominos.
I see it as a solution, looking for a problem.
I have just embraced metric with smaller measurements.
My TS60 has metric scales, since it came from UK. It all seems natural.

The centimeter... the unit nobody ever uses on any drawing. But sadly is used a lot by all the people without a technical background.
