One of my least favorite aspects of running crown has been scarf joints in long runs. It is very difficult to get them looking just right. I was playing with the Domino and noticed when the depth is set to its lowest setting- 7mm from fence to center of cutter- the mortise is way too close to the face of the crown. I solved this by using the extra metric rule from my Veritas cabinet square as a shim between the crown and the Domino fence. This rule is long enough to give the Dom. adequate registration w/o getting in the way. The rule is just thick enough to make me comfortable with the distance between the mortice and crown face. If you don't have this rule, use anything about 2mm thick. I made some test joints and the dominoed butt joints look great and are super strong. As long as the crown fits tightly to the wall lenghth and you handle it carefully I feel it unneccessary to wait for the glue to dry before hanging.
