P. 21 of the DF500 manual shows how to mortise horizontal shelves to vertical sides. The technique could have been perfect for a single shelf for a desk organizer that I've been working on, except that the stock is 12mm thick, too thin to use the butt joint technique (as the base to the centre of the 4mm dia. cutter is 10mm).

My solution was to attach a spacer to the fence  (double-faced tape) and cut the mortises on the shelf piece (roughly centered). Then I removed the spacer, and without changing any settings, milled the mortises on the vertical pieces. This was the same technique that I used to mortise the front and back pieces that were set back from the edges (reveal) using a different spacer.
