Domino kit cost

Has anyone done a cost analysis of how much you save if you buy the sustainer of all the domino sizes? Has the added bonus of being organized right off the bat rather than sitting around in bags for months but I think small boxes in drawers would be easier to access than the top opening systainer

It has been years since I have done this.  The Domino 500 kit is a good value.  The Domino 700 kit is not so much.

I also got the set with the DF500.
Has turned out to be brilliant to have all the cutters and the Domino sizes, since I am using it for more projects than I would have thought in the beginning, just because of the choice available.

I think if you always have to plan and then just go out and buy the cutter you need and some Dominos, it will be a pain...

These are USA costs

cutter set = $202
Systainer = 91
Dominoes = 138

The kit includes smaller quantities of the dominoes larger than 4mm than you can buy separately. So figure that for your 138 bucks you'll get about 30% more dominoes from 5-10mm.

So the kit is a good deal since the cutters and the systainer cost 293. So you get all the dominoes for 11 bucks.

If you don't want to use the systainers and some folks don't. Then buy the kit and sell the case.

Buy it from German Amazon for ~$185 shipped, you will have it in less than a week, I usually get orders from them in 3-4 days.

Thanks for the breakdown and good note on selling the systainer.

I forgot about needing different cutter heads, still have my head in biscuit world

This is great. I wish I knew a month or so ago before I bought individual packs to refill my systainer, but still, thanks.

Been reading around the net its been removed from the site. That tends to happen whenever a god price like that on a Festool item pops up. Great deals when you can get in on them!

which kit is best value/most used? the 4-10mm?
I thought there is only 1 "kit", which is the 4-10mm set. The rest are just bulk packs of dominos (no cutters).

Certainly the 4-10 is the one being mentioned in the context of this thread.

Which size is used most? It depends on your materials, and if you go for the standard "1/3rd thickness rule" then the 6mm dominoes are most used in 3/4" (18-19mm) material, the 5mm dominoes in 5/8" (16mm) material, and 4mm in 1/2" (12mm) material.

I tend to use 16mm or 18mm sheet goods a lot, so I have just about run out of 5x30 dominoes, 1/2 full/empty on 6x40, and 3/4 ful on 4x20, whereas the larger sizes are still almost full. Definitely it is the cutters and storage that make the initial purchase of the set worthwhile, and I think I will just refill as necessary.

I suspect that if Festool holds true to their sales agreements that this offer will disappear.  Festool dealers are licensed to sell in a designated area and violations can result in revocation of their ability to sell.

Sellers like this with deals such as this happen all the time. They cant/dont control everything. Deals like this have been going on pretty consistently since I started following/buying Festool stuff. Saved me a ton of money.

How do you find these deals? This one and the current one about price changing in 2 days are the only festool deals I've seen

Hear of them around the net, in various forums and facebook groups. Learn conversion rates and browse the various Amazon pages from different countries.

For me it is a simple matter of shopping, if a manufacturer sets prices whether it be Festool or anyone else I take it as a personal challenge to pay less than MSRP for the products.  I don't even dare disclose my best 3-4 sources on a forum.  In 10 years of buying Festool the only new items I have paid MSRP for are the ones I bought locally when I needed them immediately or wanted to actually play with them in person first, heck I didn't pay retail for the Pro 5s I bought.  As long as I have a computer, internet connection and the world at my fingers I will find a deal.  In reality it is not worth my time but I enjoy it and have saved at least $6K on Festool over time.
