Domino locating pins -- steel or plastic?

Last spring there was some discussion about a Domino design change that replaced the original steel locating pins with plastic.

When I asked the Festool reps at a recent demo about it they told me I was nuts;  they were steel and he wasn't aware of any change.

SO -- anybody know if the current production units have plastic or steel pins?  The demo unit the rep was using was steel, and the display unit the local dealer has is steel also.

Tom,

The current production model still has steel locating pins. When the current production run is finished, the units will have the plastic/fully retractable (locks up)  pins.

Presumably the new ones will have that arms with the stops on them.  Will the stops be like the new plastic design?
That would pretty much make running a series of stops down a panel impossible.

In the thread referenced above several people say that the pin stops were never intended to go into slots.  That is ridiculous; how else would you put two slots in a 4" apron? (I suppose you could make marks and position the domino to the marks, but putting the pins in the slots is so much faster and accurate.)
