Domino Package What to do?

Well... I'm trying to hold out for the XL.  I'm realizing I can easily use the 500 for small/medium jobs and the XL for casement/fixed sashes and doors.  Problem is I need a Domino next week.  I'm about to pull the trigger tonight on the 500Q package.  At $1.481K. I get the Domino, stops, cutters, tenons and a mini.  I have a CT26 but it's dedicated to the sanders, 850 and routers on job sites.  I also have a Kapex with UG and extensions.  My thinking is I can save just a few bucks with the 500q package and dedicate the mini to the Kapex.  Am I just tying to justify another Festool package purchase or does this really make financial sense for me?

The XL won't be here for a while, so go for the smaller domino and sell it in the future if you want to go for the XL when it's available.

You really want the 36mm hose for the Kapex, so whichever vac you get add a larger hose.

I already have the tradesmen vacuum kit.  It has the 36mm hose.  Any issues you see hooking up the Kapex to the mini?  Also, as tempting as it is to sell my Frestools on eBay, I hold onto my prime assets and really don't sell tools.  I'll let my wife liquidate them when I drop from the fatal heart attack.  Ha..

I've got the 500 and I organised an XL 700 a week ago ... just trying to find time to pop by to grab it.

To my thinking, the 500 and the 700XL are like having a 7" and a 9" saw (or a 1000w and a 2000w router), both are very useful - but neither cover the full spectrum well.

Anyway - that's my justification.

(The other justification I use is ... I like it, I want it, I'll have it)  [big grin]

I assure you, you will not regret it if you have DOMINO 500 and 700. it was capable of one, the other can not ..
I'm glad to be alive at the time of DOMINO! [smile]

Yep. Don't have problem buying both (when the xl becomes available)  I'm trying to figure out if it make sense for me to get the 500Q package that includes the mini.  Will the mini be ok for the dedicated DE on the Kapex?

I just purchased a Midi and RO90 Combo.  I figured the Midi would get great use as an all around mobile unit and as well as for the Kapex.  I do have a CT22 with boom arm but it is best left in the shop.  I liked the Midi over the Mini because it was not that much more $ and had a good deal more capacity.

Yeh - for a lot of KAPEX work the Mini will probably fill quickly ... See if you can upgrade the package to a Midi for the change over price.

The bigger hose should give te same effective extraction regardless of the CT unit as the motors are same/similar.

Perfect.  This is what I was asking on the thread.  Mini seems like it might be a little light for the Kapex.  It will be used for a full time trim/finish set up.  So, for a few more coins I think it makes sense to step it up one past the mini.  For the pros...  I'm looking at maybe 500/600 LBF per day... at tops for the Kapexs!!!!  I know it's a crazy post but I'm trying to figure out best package dollars for what I have and what I need to purchase.  Need a domino yesterday.... Need another DE system for the Kapex.  I promise I'll  shut up now.....

Then there's the "any DC + cyclone" thinking ... and no need to shut up - this is what we all do so we don't have to talk to people in the real world !!  [big grin]  (just joking)

I have the Kapex and paired it with an older mini. I've upgraded to the new version of the midi, but having the Dust Deputy and 36mm hose is what really makes a difference with Kapex ( and general clean up). I believe that all the vacuums have the same motors now and that the difference between them is mostly capacity. Incidentally, I sold my domino package and used the money to buy midi, hose, and a sander!!

Thanks - guys. I'm the proud owner of a 500 Q package with a midi.  Only saved about $200 but I now have an extra DE system just for the Kapex.  I totally forgot about the dust deputy add on.  Funny... since I have one for my ct26.  Do you recall if the higher end deputy fits on top of the midi?

If, by "The higher end Dust Deputy" you mean the Ultimate DD, it's designed to fit the bigger CT vacs, but by carving off a tiny bit of black plastic near the engaging pins, it will fit ok. I love this thing!!!
