I'm in favour of the third option, pencil lines. I have locked away the paddles. I found out that the pencil lines are more accurate than the pins, especially in softer wood.

My first Domino was one of the very first delivered by Eagle Tool of Los Angeles. Of course it has pins. By the time I had found work-arounds for the times those pins were not convenient, Festool came out with the "paddle" Domino.

By then I was using my Domino so often I needed a back-up. Like the first one, I bought it was a set and also bought a second Systainer supply kit.

Considering that apparently Festool cannot again manufacture Dominoes with pins, I have made it a point to learn to get the most from the paddles.

All six of the cabinet makers working for me own their own personal Dominoes. The only "early adapter" is our face-frame specialist. Of course his Domino has pins.
