Festool has moved up the release date for the Domino from April 1 to March 30. Not a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge  difference, but every day counts!

Bob,

Is that the day you will ship?

Dave Rudy

Yes,

Festool has asked that no dealer ship before that date. Retail outlets, will begin selling that day too.

Bob,
In another thread, It was mentioned that the domino tennons could be had in smaller quantities.  Is that a Festool thing, or a sales pitch sort of thing?  If you are doing that, will it be possible to order the parts systainer with fewer tennons, say half quantities?

Oh well, if not, i guess a lifetime supply would not hurt.

Yesterday morning, I stopped by Eastside Saw in Bellevue, WA to buy some stainless steel nails.  They are also a Festool dealer.  As I started to leave, what do mine eyes perceive sitting on an MFT in the Festool display?  Domino!

Naturally, I walked over and took a look.  The owner says, "You drool on it, you buy it!"  ;D  I popped it out of the case and played with it for a minute (no power).

I can't add anything substantive to what's already been said except for one thing I noticed.  It was as solidly built as any other Festool product, but the fence really impressed me.    It was amazingly smooth and precise.  Absolutely no play.

Oh, well...  Maybe after I get the Kapex.

Regards,

Dan.

Dan,

The folks up in Port Townsend have theirs plugged in!

There were also several pieces of wood scattered nearby  --  most with more than a few oblong looking holes!

Heh!  Heh!  Heh!

Loren,

You want to get one of those in my hands, don't you?  Come on, admit it!  You KNOW that it will be diffcult to resist the siren call of the Domino.  ;D

Dan.

They have a full functioning Domino in Spokane at the Woodcraft store.  Lots of holes all over the place!

The Minneapolis Woodcraft on S. Lyndale has one on display.....

No cord....  No accessories.....

"Sorry.... No you can't try it out...."  "Accessories.....?  We have only what comes in the 'box'........"

Four guys that where working at the counter some 10' away, basically new little more than the name of the tool...
"The two that know about Festool don't tell us much about Festool.... They keep it to themselves..."

You mean they had a lot of wood Dominized .... 8)

We've been playing around with the right vocabulary to use with the Domino.  You say "Dominized" and I was thinking "Dominated."

I suggest we create a proper lexicon.  I've got a three words to start us off, but it can be edited as we go along:

The Domino Dictionary
Domino: Noun.  Tool invented by Festool for facilitating mortise-and-tenon joinery.
Dominate, Dominize: Verb.  To alter wood using the Domino.
Domfounded, Domstruck: Adjective.  A state of being of prospective customers wishing to obtain the Domino.

Matthew,

I can't wait to speak in the vernacular.

Now for those concerned about the amount of dominos...

Yo-Yo listen up domi in da hood.
They disappear quick, like screws once you get going.

And I mean going. Because once you start thinking about it

there is no end to the things you can stick together.

So my advice is to get the systainer full.

Its a bargain. And you will use them......all.

I think Domino will become a verb around this forum. As in 'to Domino'. An exclusive form of mortising and tenoning (loosely speaking of course).

I love it!  Maybe we could have Festool sponsor a Domino rap contest?
